I have a Huge problem. My weddings a year away, but I need to resolve this before i go crazy. My parents got divorced about 4 years and ever since my father hasnt been in my life, he only call on birthdays and most holiday. Actually this year he called 2 days late on my b-day. The last i saw him was 1 year ago and he live 3 towns away.
Who should walk me down the isle? My father and mother or my brother?
Also who do i dance with at the reception? I dont feel comfortable with my father enought to dance with him. I feel like i dont even know him anymore.

UGH, tough...I will have my mother walk me down, seeing as my father has been out of my live since I can remember....
This is impossible for anyone to answer for you, you must do it yourself, what you feel in your heart, if you really feel you are distant, and uncomfortable dancing with him, then I say have your mom walk you. As for the dance - can you get around not doing a dance?

If you don't feel comfortable with your father I think you just answered your own question. It is an honor to walk you down the aisle and an honor to dance with you. Doesn't sound like Dad deserves either honor. EIther your mom or your brother or they can both walk you down the aisle. For the dance I would probably just choose one of them. Good luck!

The choice seems easy, have your mom walk you down. If she doesn't want to ( my mom thinks a man should do it) then have your brother.

I totally agree. I wouldn't consider having someone walk you down the aisle if you are not close! Honor your mother by asking & if she declines then ask your brother. That's what I'm doing & I'm in a similar situation. I've even considered going down alone or meeting fh half way...

I am choosing to walk myself down the aisle. I am also from a divorced family and I felt my dad didn't deserve the honor. Not to mention that I am not big on the idea of someone giving me away.. I am giving myself to FH.
As for dance, if you don't feel comfortable don't do one!

Have your other walk you down the aisle and dance with your brother! That's what I think! Is your father invited?

Yes he is invited but i wont know until that day if he is going to show up or not. My fmily and friends seem to think he will only show up to church and not the reception.

Its not wrong of you at all. Dont feel bad just explain the reasons why you would rather know than have it a surprise. they should understand.
P.S I think most brides know about their showers before! know about mine!

I think you should have your mother walk you down the aisle since she is your parent that has been with you most. Or if you have your father then you should definetly be walked down by both.As far as dancing I would probably dance with my mother.
