Who takes centerpiece?

Who takes centerpiece?

We're planning on doing something in order to have 1 person at each table take a centerpiece. Either the oldest, longest married or something. Is it wrong if the dj makes an announcement stating that at the brides parents table and the grooms parents table the parents get the centerpiece? Thanks.

I think the announcement would be fine. Will your parents and FILs be the longest married at their tables? Just make sure of that and you'll be fine.

Question: wont both of you parents be sitting with their families? If so then I dont really think there is a reason to announce it, those 2 tables just dont play the game to find the winner. It shoudl be a known fact that your parents will take it

Ok, I take that back....its probably not a known fact so i dont think an announcement is out of place, I think its just fine

Absolutely have the DJ give a quick reminder the parents get theirs CP's there's nothing wrong with that besides you never know sometimes.

I think we're going to use whoever has known both or one of us the longest at each table, so Moms win at their tables, obviously :)

our moms of course, then the 18 that are left , were picking people who mean alot to us and really impacted our life. and having our dj make the announcement.

I would think most people would know that your parents get it at your table. We usually order extra for the parents and sisters for regular center pieces, but if you have big ones those should go to your parents. Just have the maitre'd say it to the table, I wouldn't have the dj say it. It's a bit tacky.

I also think you should have someone go to those particular tables then have the DJ make the announcement.

& if you want you can also attach a note to each center piece saying who it's for & why. I plan to do that.

i think thats one of my worries.. that someone will take the centerpiece and i dont want them to have it... i wasn't sure how to go about that... but that announcement doesn't seems bad...

Our florist is coming back and breaking the centerpieces down and making individual bok for each of the guests to take home. Not sure if that is something you are interested in....

Who else would be at the parents table?
Will yours and your FH be sittin there along with other family?
Then who gets it?

I would have extras at home for parents, then whoever is at your parents table... and aunt or whatever, can have the CP. I think the 'guest' should get the gift being given, not the parents... who are in essence partly hosting the party... in most cases .

I have seen where they put a really nice card either under the centerpiece or even leaning on it, ' Reserved for........' written in caligraphy.

I'm having wedding scratch off cards
(Like the win 4 life) things.
It has our names and wedding dates on them and who ever has the image of a wedding cake wins the centerpiece.

Re: Who takes centerpiece?

Our centerpieces become one of our favors. After we cut the cake, our florist came back to RH to wrap each 3-4 flowers per person to take home. We didn't make any annoucement, our RH set a table by the exit door and our guest take them as they leave.

FH and I were thinking of a game that we make up a monogram card (1 per table) and have it randomly under someones plate. Have the DJ announce that whomever has the monogram card under their plate gets to keep the centerpiece from that particular table.

Imo it's fair and random..lol

Re: Who takes centerpiece?

We were just at a wedding where the DJ asked someone to take our a dollar or a 5$ bill and pass it until the music stopped. Everyone thought whoever was holding the dollar when the music stopped got the CP...NOPE it went to the person who donated the dollar! It was fun wedding.
