Ok, I know this has happened to you guys at least once.
I got on the train yesterday and this guy started talking to me, apparently I knew him because he knew alot about me lol, but for the life of me I could not place him. He did looke familiar, but I could not figure out where I knew him, I tried all my tricks to get info from him, but I was still stumped.
What do you guys do when this happens to you?

I HATE when that happens! Usually they are friends of my husband. Maybe it's a friend of a friend. Describe him to everyone you know & hopefully you'll figure it out.

You have nothing else to do but nod, smile and laugh at his joke and pray for the next stop to be his. It is so annoying, you are always wondering if you have this dum confused look on your face.....lol
it happened on a plane to me once...that was bizarre...

Yep.. it happened to me and FW at New Years Eve 2003. We were at the Coral House and this couple comes up to us and swears they know us. They ask if we are from PA or had been there recently. We had about 6 weeks before. But they were really weird. Or at least gave a weird vibe.
Thye could have been swingers since he kept his eye on my FW and the partner had her eye on me. LOL Those two ( If they were)were trying to pick up the WRONG people... LOL

It happened to me just recently. I was going in to work, get on the elevator, and this guy says my name (he even pronounced my last name correctly, which not many people do) then says 'so I hear you're working on XXX program now' and I'm thinking, who the frig is this guy? Luckily it was a short elevator ride to my floor, so I didn't have to talk to him for very long. I still have no clue who that guy was!

This happens to me all the time
Im bad with names.. and Im in WAY too many little associations.. they cross reference eachother. I've had people I WORK in my office see me and I can NOT remember their names. We just talk.. blah blah.. but worse, I can't remember WHERE I know them from.
Im REALLY bad
If I dont see often with name association, I lose your name completely. I have a button 'Hi, I can't remember your name either!' I wear it to all my conferences.. because I really CAN'T remember. At the formal functions we take off our name tags and Im a gonner!!!
I met a co-worker (sort of) that I took a class with for 10 sessions once a week. It was a speech class I know lots about him. Met him and his wife in the mall this weekend and Jim was with me. I TOTALLY could NOT remember his name until the last second as he was introducing himself! Oh I'm sorry this is Charles.. I hope he didnt notice *sigh*

That happened a few weeks ago at work. We had a fire in the basement of our building and we lost power. I had to go to another office location. THis guy came over to me and said 'hi Dawn' Congratulations.. I thought he was talking about me getting married last March. I said thank you. I had no idea who he was. Then he said so how old is your baby now? I have no children.. I said. HE said that is so weird, apologized and walked away. I still have no clue who he was or why he thought I just had a baby.

Before I started dating my FW, I went out with a girl and we went to a movie and I saw an old friend from HS and it was good to see him. He had become a cop. I went to introduce her and her name completely slipped my mind. It was out first date. Believe it or not, I made it to date #2.
BTW.. I almost said her name was 'Candy'.. but I knew it was wrong. I guess I was staring at her front... and well.... you know.....

I'm the opposite - I remember you. I know when and where, usually with whom, and can probably tell you something you said on our first introduction. But I usually just keep it to myself and pretend I don't know you either because I feel like a fool if I remember someone who doesn't remember me.
Only once do I remember a time when someone remembered me and I had NO CLUE who they were. And since that rarely happens to me, I couldn't even play it off. I felt bad because the person didn't even try to refresh my memory and looked a little insulted.

Happens to me ALL the time. I think its because of being a bartender. Now, I am really good with faces and drinks but, I am awful at names. Plus, I have a hard time recognizing people outside of the bar.

well, how's this?
a friend of mine from college called me over summer break. We weren't the best of friends but talked every now and then. She said 'Hi Jen it's Kathy'. (i thought Kathy who ) As the conversation went on, I still had no idea. I racked my brain trying to figure it out. The convo went on for at least 45 MINUTES and still no clue. Finally, she mentioned a mutual friend of ours and then it clicked! LOL

I have a funny trick about that. When ppl call me Kathryn, I know that I know them from HS. But when they call me Kat, I know thats its college or later. Helps to narrow it down some!
