please give me an honest opinion. We are planning the honeymoon about 3 weeks after the wedding. With the sandals resorts you can register online for people to pay towards it for the shower, so it is the best idea. However, it is hurricane season in sept and sandals is only located in the caribean. help!!

stupid? no.. not really

Most places have weather garauntees (sp)

hurricane season is tricky. It's either goregous or scary. Its really up to you and how much you want to go.

well look at it this way - if you plan on spending alot of indoor time (dont know much about sandals- do they have shows and things ??? or stuff to keep you inside if the weather is nasty?)- the weather really doesnt matter- if you are looking to hang out at the beach then maybe a different locale is called for

it just gets me nervous because the hurricane guarantee is that if it hits the 'exact location' then they will refund you the airfare and trip, but i dont want it to rain the whole time. hum...thanks for the help !

I'd say it was risky, make sure you get travel insurance.

You could always consider a cruise - that way if a hurricane is around it would simply reroute its itinerary and take you somewhere else - then at least you are not out a honeymoon

I went to Mexico in September for my HM, and people told me I would have bad weather and it was PERFECT!!!!!

I went to Puerto Rico in September for my HM and it was beautiful all week...however...the week prior to my HM there was a big hurricane there. It's all about taking a chance. If you don't want to worry, don't chance it. My DH and I just had a feeling that ours would be great and it was!

I personally would not do it. We chose Hawaii vs. anywhere in the Carribean because we did not want to risk the weather problem (and know two couples who experienced hurricanes during their honeymoons.

Too risky in my opinion.

thanks girls, hum..have you ever heard of a travel agent allowing family and friends to call them and pay towards the honeymoon? is that tacky? it is just so easy on the weddingchannel.com website to register for it. it goes on your website and everything. hum...help please. we already put a deposit down for the trip, and booked a timeshare week down there for another spot. i am a bit out of control.

we just got back from sandals and love dit - depstie the liquid sunshine (rain) the whole time......it was cloudy but we still had so much fun

sandals does have a hurricane guarantee where no mattter which day you are there and a hurricane (and i htink trop storm!) hits - they will give you another free vacation of the same amoutn of days you came for whenever you want....secretly, we were hoping for one on our last day....but no luck!!

definitely call a trravel agent or even sandals and ask.....

hey, if you want to go - then go - and have fun!!!

Aruba is out of the Hurricane belt so that would be another option.

For a regular trip, I would wing it - you can't plan or predict the weather. For our honeymoon we didnt want to risk having completely miserable weather.

We ended up going to Orlando and we got the regular FLA rain- 20 minutes here and there followed by sunshine. We did cut off the Key West portion of the trip because a trop storm was hanging around at the time.

You cant sit home or change your plans in life for what might or might not be! Go have fun! It's not stupid at all, and stepping out the door in the morning can be risky! Dont live like that! Go!

I think you should go. Especially if you are doing Sandals, because they have gurantees where if it is ahirricane, you get to go back free.

We went to the yucatan Peninsula in Mexico for our HM in the beginning of July and dealt with a hurricane there, so you never know. But don't let the threat of a hurricane be the deciding factor. If you want to go to the Caribbean, then go for it!

I am getting married in September and I am dealing with the same fear. That said, I am strongly leaning towards Aruba because I hear it is the safest bet. If this is a huge concern of yours, I would suggest looking into an area that is not hurricane prone. Better to be safe than sorry!!!
