Who to Choose--Wedding Party

Who to Choose--Wedding Party

Does anyone have some words of wisdom? My FH and I have been engaged since August '03 and everyone is starting to ask who is going to be in the wedding party. I want about 5 girls and 5 guys. However, that will leave some of my very close friends left out. How should I handle this? If we had all of our very close friends...mind you people we see on a every other week basis...we would have a total wedding party of 18 including FG and RB as opposed to 12. Help, Please.

We are having 8 bridesmaids and 8 groomsmen... Plus a ring bearer and ourselves. You have to include who makes you happy! I couldn't leave any of my closest friends out so we had them all... The more the merrier! :)

Good luck with your decision

You should wait till closer to your wedding, I wish I did that because friendships change and people drift apart.

I got engaged in july 23, 2003 and my BM new that night
i am having 6 girls and FH is having 6 guys (i might have 1 more but probably not)

I have known people to have 23 in their whole party
you have your closest friends... the ones you will be friends with 20 years down the road

my best advice...choose friends/family that you see always in your future. It's horrible to say but there are friends who i can see going separate ways in life.

I'm having 6 and FI has 6....this includes MOH and bestman.

I knew I wanted to keep my bridal party small...so instead of including my close friends I am having my sister, my FH's sister, and his borther and brother-in law. I am also having a flower girl. There will be 7 total including bride and groom. I am asking my friends to help in other ways, ie. handing out programs, a reading at the church, escorting guests to their seats, etc. Good Luck!

my bridal party is ridiculously large:
we have 22 in total not including us! its insane but we wanted to have our family plus our closest friends involved and we both have huge fam's!

As of now we have 5 girls and 5 guys. No FGs or anything like that...

We chose based on who our closest friends/family are and whether or not they could afford it. If we were going to run into problems, we were planning on cutting it down to just the family members. No hurt feelings then!

Re: Who to Choose--Wedding Party

I got engaged on July 3, 2003 and had asked each one of my girls that night! Some people did tell me I should have waited because relationships can change. These girls have been my close friends for years so I can't imagine our relationships changing over the next year. You need to do what feels right to you...its YOUR day don't forget that. Good luck!

ETA: Oops I meant to write I was engaged July 3, 2003

Yes, I agree....relationships change...if you are unsure ask who you definitly know you want to be in it (like any family) and wait a little on the friends...you can always ask them later...you have plently of time!!! Good Luck!

I agree with GoingNutty...the more the merrier!!! We're having a total of 18 also (9 BM, 9 GM). We just didn't want to cut any of our family or best friends out of the fun. I sent cards to each of the girls 2 weeks ago, and FH is waiting to ask the guys because he has to decide who his BM will be (torn between 3!). Although the party is large, its made up of my 2 brothers, his 2 sisters, and friends we've been close with for 10+ years.

I totally agree the more the merrier. What's wrong with including all your close friends? But I do agree to give it a little more time closer to your date just to be on the safe side.
