Who to invite - ex-husband dilemma

Hi All -

I am brand new here. My daughter got engaged before Xmas and we are currently looking for halls. Looking to April 2010 hopefully!!

Anyhow, here is my question... I divorced my daughter's father when she was about 3 years old. I remarried and have been married for 23 years now. My ex-husband remarried and then divorced again and now has been living with a woman #3 for a few years. This new woman has a 17 year old son who lives with them, she also has a 23 year old daughter who lives elsewhere with her boyfriend and their baby. My daughter has only met this woman's kids twice. My question is who do we invite?? Obviously her father and his girlfriend, but what about her kids?

Maggie, I just wanted to say hello and Congratulations!!!! I'm Mary, from Lancaster, Pa. Our Daughter, Debi, married in LI last June; Our other Daughter, Donna, is planning to marry here in Lancaster Co., this Aug. Does your Daughter know the children of the girlfriend, and what does she say about inviting them? What are your instincts telling you to do? Mary

My instinct has basically left me on this one. Keep in mind it is my EX, so my real instinct says to stay out of it directly! LOL! I will happily go along with whatever my daughter wants to do, it is her day but she is at a loss as to what to do and as I said she has only met them twice, so doesn't really know them. But on the other hand, she doesn't want to insult anyone...

Hi Maggie,
I am divorced from my sons father too for a long time and we have both remarried. He is married a little longer then I so I didn't have your situation which is a tough one. I would say have your daughter ask if her father would like them invited. Obviously the one that is living with him can't be left out so then how do you leave out the other one. So again I say have your daughter ask him and then take it from there.

P.S. I agree stay out if and have your daughter do the asking. If you don't then you will be the bad one.
