We're out of invitations and out of RSVP's and my mom just called me to ask me if i invited one of her acquaintances. I told her no, they weren't on the list . She said we have to invite them since she went to their son's wedding.
Is this proper etiquette? Do I really have to invite someone because my parents went to their wedding? This does not make sense to me considering they're not even throwing the wedding. Don't get me wrong, they're covering the hm and i'm grateful but I don't think I have to invite someone simply b/c they were invited to their child's wedding. Am I wrong?

Re: who to invite question
I know where you are coming from...my mom was invited to someone's sons wedding and she insisted we invite them, I mean they are paying for 1/2 the wedding so I couldn't really say anything.
But how can you send an invite if you ran out? Just do it to make your mom happy, you never know they might not come.

Re: who to invite question
we had to do this - my FILS reasoning was that they gave this persons kid a gift and we deserve one back

Re: who to invite question
I am going throught his with FH parents. They were not paying for anything but had to invite every co-worker whose kids wedding they went too. I solved this by saying, you want all these friends (her count is 36 right now) you pay for them... and they agreed.

Re: who to invite question
I was told if its been in the last 2-3 years and you were invited to theirs (or their families) you have to invite them to yours.

But the parents were invited... not the bride and groom. I dont see it being the same thing unless said parent is paying.

Re: who to invite question
it was in the last 2-3 years, they did offer to pay and they also think since they gave a gift, we deserve one back. So they covered all your bases girls LOL. We're out of invites but we made them ourselves so we could make more it's just such a PIA. I'm considering sending the materials to my mom and telling her to do it! Thanks for all your advice

Re: who to invite question
I kind of feel that if they want them to be there then they can pay for them..That may sound harsh but if you are footing the bill for all your guests and the amount is adding up why not suggest this? HTH
