I'm so confused on which guests to invite with a guest. We have a few early 20 year olds and 2 that are like 18 or 19....none of them have boyfriends. Do you think they should be invited with a guest or should I only invite people that have a significant other with a guest? I'm trying to keep the guest list down!!
Thanks

Re: Who to invite with guests?
we only invited people with guests if they are married, engaged, living together, or close to engagement.... or if they would know no one else at the wedding (but that was only his mom's out of state friend)

Re: Who to invite with guests?
You only really need to invite people in serious relationships with guests, esp if these people know each other, they'll have a great tim e. We invited everyone over 18 with a guest

Re: Who to invite with guests?
We're paying for everything ourselves and to help cut cost, we decided that no one (cousins in their 20's to parent s friends in their 50's) gets a guest unless they are:
-Engaged -Married -Living together
This way we're not picking & choosing who's relationship is serious & who's isn't.
Our Guest list went from 298 - 274 by doing this Mean but fair ...

Re: Who to invite with guests?
it all depends on you - i would have loved to invite everyone with a guest but unfortunately my budget would not allow that. if you are able to invite with a guest then do so, or if you are concerned with meeting your minimum then invite with a guest.
for us, since money and numbers are an issue, you only get invited with a guest if you are living together or engaged. invites went out this morning...i am sure we will get some complaints but too bad!

Yeah...we are pretty much paying for the majority of the wedding ourselves so budget does play a huge issue.
Thanks for your advice girls!

we had two call my FH to ask if they could bring their gfs and one replied 2 were attending- 'if that is ok with you'
we felt put into a spot with them so said yes- so we lucked out only having to add 3 guests we werent planning on inviting

Re: Who to invite with guests?
Aside from those in their teens/early 20s, EVERYONE is being invited with guest at our wedding. Personally, I'd never attend a wedding if I was invited without a guest.
Before I met my FH, I was not involved seriously with anyone for 4 years. I was always dating guys for a few months here and there. If someone had invited me without a guest (I'm in my 30s), I would have declined the invitation.

Oh I agree..I would never not invite someone with a guest who was in their mid-late 20's or 30's. My cousin actually did that to me last year (I was 29), so I declined. I just know these 18 year old cousins don't have boyfriends and I know its mean, but I'd hate to pay for some random person. The cousins are also sisters so at least they have each other

We're not inviting my 18-21 year old cousins with guests. They will have their entire families there as well as one another.

Re: Who to invite with guests?
The only people we invited with a guest are those who are married (or might as well be), engaged, long term relationship, or those would cause an international incident if they didn't have a 'plus one;' otherwise, no guest (please read that as Edna from 'The Incredibles' would have said 'no cape')

Re: Who to invite with guests?
personally, having been someone who was invited without a +1 just because she wasn't engaged, i find it to be really insulting to draw the line there.
i was a BM in my friends wedding and the wedding was 2 months before mine and FH's 2 year anniversary. he wasn't invited at first (he later was) merely because we weren't engaged or living together. but we were clearly in a serious, committed relationship. my FH and i were more than a little upset.
we are inviting everyone with a guest who is in a relationship with someone at the time - not a 'flavor of the week' but a committed relationship. in my opinion, that is the only way to draw the line that won't insult someone and/or hurt someone's feelings.
