I know someone has probably asked this before, but what are the rules, typically on who to tip on the day of and how much should each person get? Thanks in advance!
This is a great article. But it doesn't say anything about the Maitre D or the Bridal Attendant. My BM told me I should tip the Maitre D an extra $350 on top of the 20% gratuity they are charging me. And then I have to tip the Bridal Attendant on top of that! What does everyone else think about this?
What has anyone else done about this?

$3-4 pp!!! If you only have 150 people that means you are tipping $450-$600 to the maitre d. I would think that's a llittle crazy! You would be paying them over $100 an hour! I think the tipping is out of control.
On top of that, if you are getting married in a church, my church told me that I should tip the Priest what ever I can afford. They are already charging me $750 for the church!! I think the Priest's fee should be included with that.

I really don't understand why a 'tip' is in reality a salary. 100$/hour for the maitre D is insane.

I'm quitting my job and becoming a maitre D. They seem to get paid a hell of a lot more than I do!

Re: Who to Tip
Where I used to work the Maitre' D got paid good money. It was a small place so the guy was the only one and he made about $400-$600 per event and on good weekends he did 3-4 events!
When I checked out CLM the Bm told me there is no need to tip them so mch. They make good money and a tip of $1-$2 per person is enough. He said think about if they do 2-3 events a weekend thats a lot of money that is tax free.

$1-$2 seems a lot more reasonable. What about the Bridal Attendant. Do you have suggestions for this person as well?

Usually the bridal attendant got different amounts. She was great but sometimes she would get $75 and other time she would get $200. Depending on how good mine is I will give $100-$150

Re: Who to Tip
Don't forget that tips are not mandatory...they are a reward for exceptional service. If you feel that your bridal attendant didn't do anything for you, then don't tip him/her. And if service s-ucks or something goes wrong, that's the maitre'd's responsibility, so don't tip him/her.
The $ amounts you'll hear and read are guidelines if the service is exceptional...if it's sub-par let them know with a cheap tip.
