Who used candle votive place cards

I really wanted to do this but I have some questions. When do you light the candles. Most people come to the CH and get there place card.

Do you light the candles as they enter the CH or do you do it afterwards when the go into the main room.

If you do it after the CH doesn't take much longer to get into the room b/c everyone is looking for there place card at the same time?

And what kind of candles (tea light or votive) and how long did they stay lit ? And if they went out how did you replenish them.... any info would help

Here is a picture. A friend of mine took it of hers but I dont have one of all of them yet.

I think that they lit the candles when the guest walked into CH or towards the end. I think it did take a while but it was worth it bc they looked so pretty lit.
