WHO WAS YOUR FAVORITE TEACHER AND WHY?

I'll start

I will always remember my first grade teacher because I got VERY sick in first grade and missed half the year. She came to my house to tutor me when I was strong enough to make sure that I wouldn't get left behind. She had this long flowing blonde hair and looked like and angel. She was killed in a car accident when I was in High School leaving behind her husband and young children

My 11th grade Spanish teacher. She truly made me fall in love with Spanish. I always knew I wanted to teach but I didn't know what. She really believed in making learning fun and interesting and her philosphies have and will followed me through my career.

Also had the privledge of meeting some wonderful girls on here that helped me with my scrapbooking. They were wonderful with teaching me how to and being patient with my non talented butt. I will forever admire their talents!!!

Re: WHO WAS YOUR FAVORITE TEACHER AND WHY?

I had many favorite teachers for different reasons I guess...

My second grade teacher, Mrs. Major, was awesome. I loved her. I remember her preparing us for our first holy communion and it was so wonderful. I remember when I went into third grade, I would ask to go to the bathroom and run all the way down the hall just to go visit her.

My eigth grade teacher was more like a friend. Miss Schroder..she was young and hip and made learning so much fun. She was my english teacher and it was my favorite subject and I learned SO much from her! She always let me help her grade tests and stuff and I remember thinking she was so cool. All these years later, she found me through classmates.com and we talk EVERY DAY through im...she has become one of my best friends!

In hs I had a science teacher, Mr Farren, who was awesome. I hated hs and therefore didnt try very hard but he saw that I had potential and pushed me and gave me the edge I needed. Ill never forget him.

In college, I had an english teacher..it was an honors course and at first I hated her..she was so strict and so rough but I learned so much in that class that I had to wind up appreciating her.

I hope years from now, one of my kids remembers me and writes about me on a message board!

My favorite was my art teacher from 2nd grade to 5th grade... I loved art and she inspired me to become a teacher. I still keep in touch with her - I went to lunch with her last week, and she will be invited to my wedding!!

HMMM... In High School it was Mr. Blaha. He was the best. He was in English teacher and even though I use to get Detention for talking and passing notes I learned a lot. He also let us goto detention and listen to our walkmans.

Ms. Cooper..........10th grade social studies........she really made the class interesting...........time just flew by and she truly cared about the students. One girl got pregnant and had to leave to go to the alternative high school, she was so supportive and kind to her when most people just judged her.

I'd have to say the absolute BEST teacher I have ever had in my life is my dad. He's a professor at various colleges in the area, and he is SO knowledgeable about EVERYTHING. He used to throw Mr. Wizard parties for my friends and I where he would fill the house with 'fog' and make exploding volcanoes and all sorts of things. He plays the guitar and introduced me to the flute through the music he loves. He taught me how to deal with boys who broke my heart in junior high. He taught me to drive when I was way too young to sit behind a wheel. He taught me that education is the one thing that no one can take away from you, and he taught me what deja vu was when I was four and was experiencing it for the first time. There's not a day, a week, a month that I don't still learn something from that man. I love him so much!

1st grade teacher... Mrs. Suffis... because she used to walk around the field or gym at recess & we would walk with her!! Plus she was my Mom's 1st grade teacher as well... so she loved me more then all the other kids!!

My embalming professor in college: Oh was he a pain in the ARSE! He wouldn't allow me to leave the leave the lab even though I was sobbing that I made a mistake, hated dead people & WOULD NEVER BE ABLE TO TOUCH THEM!! He stood himself in the door way, crossed his arms & said to me : 'If you leave my lab, I PROMISE you will never become a funeral director in the state of New York.'

Well, thank goodness he believed I could get over it & do it... because 7 years later, I am doing something I love so much & getting paid to do it! Thank You Professor Grey!!

In elemenatry school, it was Mr.Giuliano, my first man teacher, he taught us so much !! I had a lot of resepct for that man- no one dared talk back to him. In Jr.High it was Mrs. Petersen- she was the best social studies teacher in the world. And in High school it was Mrs. Weiss, she got to know me as a person , and I used to babysit her kids, and Mr.Cuchel who believed in me and encouraged me to be free in creative writing .
Funny thing I married a teacher!!! He teaches math and social studies to emotionally disturbed children in the city.

6th grade teacher was the first teacher that treated me really good. He made me believe in myself...
To expalin, I must share the story of my worst teacher:
When we first moved I was going into the 3rd grade. In the new school district everyone learned cursive in 2nd grade. My old school taught it in 3rd grade, so when I started the new school I did not know how to write in cursive yet. The 1st day of school a bunch of the kids got together and showed me, and I picked it up right away. It did not matter to my teacher. At the end of the day we would line up and go and greet our parents in the front of the building. The stupid teacher said very loudly in front of me, the other kids, and the other parents to my mom that I belonged in a special school because I did not know how to write!!! It was down hill from there for the years that followed. The teacher actually made me believe I was stupid. Now, in college, I am an honors student with a 3.8 GPA (I guess I learned how to write) in a very hard field. Although I carried that burden in my mind for too many years, My 6th grade teacher really encouraged me and made me realize I had a brain in my head. I had the rare opportunity to thank him years later. For all you teachers out there...please, encourage ALL of your students!

Re: WHO WAS YOUR FAVORITE TEACHER AND WHY?

Hmmmmm,

1) Ms Miccio, HS English- because she was hilarious, awesome, and took the class to see Showboat on Broadway.

2) Ms D, (thats how she wanted to be called)JHS social studies- because she used to be an actress (she brought in her head shots and everything). She was very dramatic and brought social studies to life for me. And she told stories about how when she was in college they tried to 'overthrow the establishment' by flushing all the toilets at once.

3) Mr Ted, HS homeroom teacher because he was hot.
