I know what you mean. But they have some good restaurants in the area, like 'Fresh Basil's' - YUMMY italian food, and 'CABANA' - dee0lish cuban food. Uh, speaking of which, I think I'm in the mood for Cuban today.

I feel your pain - I'm on 55th and Park, but I live on 61st and 1st so I walk past all that temptation every single day, twice a day. Good thing I usually get out as the stores are closing...
