Who would like to join me in the Mental Hospital?

Who would like to join me in the Mental Hospital?

I was thinking we could get a lovely window room and perhaps a group discount.
For those following my 'not introducing bridal party or parents at reception hall' hell, here is the update. My stepmother told me today that she will not do the reading I asked her to do, even though I picked it out specially for her and spent a lot of time making it perfect for her. 'You should just ask one of your friends since they are doing the other readings anyway' Since, it seems, this is not really an honor, just something that I have a few non-important people doing at my Mass. She is (and I quote) 'very unhappy with the way some of the wedding is going but I am the Bride so I should have it the way I want'. Now, I have been crying all day and cannot eat. Scott is ready to pack a bag and get married in a small ceremony with my sister and best friend only. He even said that he will not pay thousands of dollars for people to make me cry. Not looking for any real advise. I just feel like this wedding is getting very too much for me to deal with.

there isn't much I can say....please stay strong. It is insane how stressful things can be....but keep in mind that if that is the decision she made, hold her to it.....

I agree with Mickey. There is not much here to say. Although I will say this... I have learned through planning my wedding that know matter what you do someone will find fault in it. It is impossible to make everyone happy so don't try! Make yourself and your future hubby happy and everyone will have to go with the flow. Good Luck!

Hey Michele - sorry to hear about these problems - I too have been stressed with the usual BS that seems to go along with weddings....it's getting down to the wire for us, and I think that's just intensifying the pressure.

I've been planning my wedding for well over a year, and frankly I'm looking forward to it being over with! What is most stressful for me is making decisions that will affect the guests, the BP, the logistics of who's staying where, etc.

Maybe you can take a few days off from planning, and try not to even think about it for a little while - that's helped me :)

Just think about why we're doing this - it'll be well worth these headaches in the end

Oh I will join you in that room, with that window not to make light of the situation, but to think about it, you have to. You cannot let anyone stress you out. It is your day and you will do what makes you happy. If you SM so chooses not to read so be it, ask someone else. I have had many days like Terri described, days when I just want it over already. You are the bride you do it your way. Don't let anyone steal your joy sweetie, they are not worth it.

Hope things get better soon.

Hang in there! It is unfortunate that some of us brides have to learn that some people care more about their own needs than the people that matter the most, the bride and groom! Things always work out.

I sent you an email.

Don't let her do this to you - this is supposed to be fun!

Don't let anyone get to you. You need to do what makes you & FH happy.
Planning a wedding is stressful enough. If thats her decision, then so be it, she can't say you didn't ask her.

I just dont understand people!! I have been in quite a few weddings before my own, and even though some of my friends/relatives that were getting married did things that were not to my personal liking, I never said a peep to them because it is their wedding and rule 1 is not to upset the bride!!
Of course I have been dealing with nothing but drama with my bridal party, so I am in the same boat. Hang in there Michele, it will all be worth it in the end.

Stay strong and keep your head up. I'm sorry that you have to go through this. It's your day and this is a special time for you. Try to think of the positives.

I'm sorry that you have to go through this. There's enough stress going around as it without adding more. Did your stepmother tell you what exactly she is upset about? Maybe it is something else besides the whole introduction thing. I hope it works out okay. Think HONEYMOON.... RELAXING.... Just you and your sweetie and NO family in sight... Aahhhhh, what bliss that will be! Hang in there!

Re: Who would like to join me in the Mental Hospital?

I feel much better today. I have decided to take an a new 'NO DRAMA' attitude. From now on I will not share wedding details or decisions with family members who have been repeatedly unhappy with my decisions. Of course, you girls will know everything. My answers to ALL questions will be 'We are not sure yet' 'We are still deciding' 'We are not going to worry about that just yet'
I figure no one can be really upset at those answers. Thanks for the support.

isnt is so odd that the most IMPORTANT event in your life has to be so stressfull because of friends and family... i dont think i have ever met a bride (including myself) that hasnt gone through wedding stress because of others!!! your idea not to include others in your wedding decisions is the best way.. good luck to you and i am sure you will have a wonderfull day that youll never forget!!!

Book me a room with firm padded walls!! I have only begun planning and I think it is the worst experience. There are so many times where I just don't want to have a wedding and would rather elope. When everything is said and done, I think it will be all worth it though....I hope. I just keep reminding myself that this is MY wedding. Good luck and do what you want!!

Reserve a spot for me please.
WE have gone through so much in preparation for the wedding. I am not even on speaking terms with my parents at this point. I hardly see my FH because we are so busy, AND we live together. I have 13 days left- and I will be happy when life returns to normal!!!

Maybe we can get a group rate!

Geez, Michele, you sure do have a challenging situation! I don't envy you. I don't have much advice, just wanted to remind you that you need to do what will make YOU (and FH) happy. I think your no drama approach is great-I may use it myself!

At least your stepmom, while unhappy with some of the plans, understands that it's your day and not hers.

Is she definitely out of doing the reading now? I'd let her know how sorry I am that she doesn't want to participate in the Mass, and then I would not mention it again. Time to move on to your other plans.

I'm sure everything will work out in the end, and you will have a beautiful day!! Chin up, girl!!

Is there any space left in that padded room.

In every wedding I have been in I have always been the yes girl 'yes I'll wear that dress', 'yes I'll have my hair done that way', 'yes I'll spend a ton of money on shoes'. Anything to keep the bride & groom happy.

Boy do I wish I had gotten married before THEM!!

Advil and earplugs - that's my advise!!

Michele, I am so sorry that your stepmom is making you so upset. This is supposed to be one of the happiest times in your life. I don't know why people have to put a damper on it. Maybe because they are selfish. I hope everything works out.
