How are you going about seperating them from one another? I heard that only one MOH and one BM has to sign that piece of paper in the Church. I am having my sister as MOH, but I also want my Best Friend as MOH. The thing is my FI is only having 1 best man. We have a huge bridal party and I don't want things to start getting disorganized by me having another MOH. Any suggestions on how to go about this? I haven't told my Best Friend yet...she thinks she is only going to be a bridesmaid, so that will be such a wonderful surprise for her. Also I haven't said anything to her because I really don't know how I'd set the whole situation up properly. Any suggestions would be so helpful!!! Thanks.

Re: Who's having two MOH'S?
Well, it depends on the church, i know that Catholic church only wants for one of each to sign the papers and only two names go on the liscense.

Yeah...it's a Catholic Church...what's a good way for her to feel like she is also a MOH? Would it be strange if she walked out w/ one of the regular groomsmen? I want her to stand out as my MOH just like my sister...I just don't know how.

I have two MOH's, just like you - one is my sister and one a friend. And we only have one best man, it's not a problem. You just have to be clear on what each MOH is privileged to do for you..
I'm not getting married in a church, so I dunno the restrictions.

we are having a maid and a matron of honor they are walking in one on each size of the usher so neither is more important that the other

That's not a bad idea...How are you dividing it between your sister and bestfriend?

I have a really stupied question, but what's the difference between a maid of honor v. matron of honor? I was under the impression that the matron of honor is a woman who's pregnant or has kids, or even married. I'm probably wrong on this.

My sister is the matron of honor, my friend is the MOH
Well, dividing b/w the two of them cna be a very sensitive subject to both of them. Luckily, I wasn't a MOH when my sister got married last year, just a bridesmaid, so we both understood that I wasn't gonna give her most of the honor duties. But I made her Matron of Honor out of respect that she's my sister. Plus, she was cool about it, saying that my friend can do most of the stuff.
If that didn't work, I was gonna have the two of them duke it out amongst themselves.
So, in my case.. my sister (matron of honor) is wlaking in first with a regular GM and my friend (MOH) is walking before me with the best man.
Good luck!

Thanks. I just thought of something...Would it look tacky if my Best Friend holds my sister's wrist as she is signing the paper...to symbolize some sort of presence as being a witness also? May appear odd...what do you think?

That does seem a little ...odd?
I honestly think that you should go with your guts. I would probably choose my best friend over my sister a million times and then some. You want that person to be SPECIAL, not to say family is not special. But best friends are hard to come by. Just my 2 cents.

Couldn't agree more...I mean I love my sister to death and all, but my mom basically insists....NO, actually DEMANDS that my sister be my MOH. Me and my sister are close, but not as close as my best friend and I. I look at it this way, if my sister weren't blood, she'd just be a bridesmaid and not a MOH.
Thanks for your help.

Re: Who's having two MOH'S?
I am having my two sisters as my MOHs and then my FH is having his two brothers as his best men...I am having the older of two sets sign the papers...
I would just keep your sister as your MOH...that way it doesn't get confusing.

I am having my 2 sisters as MOHs. Actually 1 is a step-sister but we were raised together since I was 7 years old. My 'real' sister will be signing my marriage license.

Re: Who's having two MOH'S?
i am having my sister and my best friend as my maids of honor. i believe the term 'matron' refers to a married woman, which my sister is, but i am keeping them both as 'maids' because i know my sister is sensitive about feeling old (something about 'matron' connotates old - maybe it stems from the negative connotation of the word 'matronly'?). anyway, i have no idea who will sign the papers at the ceremony. FH is having his 2 brothers as best men, so maybe just the oldest 2 will sign (my sister, his oldest brother). that seems like the least controversial way to do it.
i think that if you feel it in your heart you should have 2 MOHs regardless of the fact that fh has just one best man. you can work around that.

Re: Who's having two MOH'S?
I having 2 MOH's.
One is my aunt. She will be escorted by her husband. She will be giving the toast at the reception and she will sign the certificate (I think....haven't really thought about it)
The second is my FH's SIL. She is my best friend and my relationship mentor. Her husband is our Best Man and they will walk together. She will give our toast at the Rehearsal Dinner.
They will both wear the same MOH dress and have MOH bouquets.
We are also trying to come up with a special dedication for them.

Re: Who's having two MOH'S?
I had 2 MOHs. We also had 2 best men, though if I'd had only one, I'd have the 2 MOHs walk with the one BM. To break up the duties, well, I guess it really wasn't too big of a deal. One signed the paper, the other stood closest to me. One gave a toast (though the other might have if she didn't have a total fear of public speaking.
Now, this one, the one who didn't say the toast, she got married in May and had myself and my other MOH as her Maid & Matron of honor but also a third girl was a MaidOH as well. Again, we just split different things. We all were fine with the way it was and no one felt slighted.

Re: Who's having two MOH'S?
Thanks everyone...I want to discuss this with my mom and see what she thinks...My FI doesn't really care whether I have one or 30 maid of honors...he thinks I have gone nuts..LOL...I would really, really love to have my best friend play a significant role so..I am actually leading towards having two...I just want to figure out a way in which to avoid confusion between 2 MOH'S and 1 BM... Thanks for all your help.
