Who's making their own STD's?

I picked out the STD's that I wanted, and when I told FH that they were going to run about $150, he thought it was crazy. ( I actually thought it wasn't that bad). He doesn't see why we need to spend that much money on them to just give people a heads up on things. I know a lot of people are going to want to stay in a hotel the night of the wedding, and we have some OOT'ers, so I think we should send them. Any advice on how to make my own, but not to have them look cheesey? Thanks!!

These were ours...I made magnets that I sent to everyone and the hotel card I only sent to OOT'ers.

I bought plain white cards, like the size of rsvp cards from Staples for $5 a pack of 20. I just printed Save the Date, bla bla bla, in a color print and a nice font. Including stamps I probably spent $40 tops.

I made STD magnets... 100 of them for about $30.00!
I got 250 FREE business cards from vista print vistaprint.com from a promotion that they were doing. I think that it is still going on. Anyway, I picked the one with the red rose on the left hand side and filled in the info... where it said 'Company Name' I put 'SAVE THE DATE' ... and filled in the other info such as 'We're getting married!'... our names... wedding date.. etc... in the other information spots. It costs about $8.00 for standard shipping... but could be cheaper if you can wait longer to get them. I then went to Staples and bought 100 magnetic business cards for about $22.00 and put them together. So easy and so cheap!! Good luck and let me know if you have any questions on this.

we made ours this weekend. it took us like 8 hours for two days to make them. what a pain in the a$$. Fh is so done the wedding stuff after this. anyway, we went to michaels today and picked up 2 50 pack of card stock invitation paper for 10$ each. we used the 50% off coupon and it was in total like $25.00 with magnets to attach.

I just did this now. Thanks so much for the tip! They're not the most highly fashionable I've ever seen, but for 5.25, who can beat it?!?!?!?! I used the same one. Thanks again!!!!
