This is for all the non-religious folks who are trying to put together a largely secular ceremony that is meaningful, personal, and dogma free (without being too kumbaya-ish either).
So for those who picked someone other than a religious figure associated with a particular parish, who did you pick to marry you? What did you like about them?

We took a page out of Friends. We had my FH best Friend ordained online and registered with the city so that he can marry us. We thought it would be nice to have someone who has knows us and has seen our growth as a couple.

We are doing the same thing - FH's uncle is getting ordained to officiate.
