Who's NOT using their regular salon for hair/make-up?

So I've been going to the same salon for years now. My current hair cutter is new to the shop and I like her ok but I really wasn't planning on using them for hair and make-up. It's a nice salon and they offer both services but my reason for not using them is because what if I don't like the trail? I don't want it to be even more awkard if I don't use them after a trial. The second reason is I can't really get any reviews of their wedding services so I can't even judge how well the hair will hold up on the DOW.

Is it pretty common to NOT use your regular salon? Anyone else feel akward about it? They know I'm getting married and I'll actually be making a color and cut appt with them soon so I'm nervous that DOW hair might come up.

I think its very common to not use your regular salon.

I was always planning on using someone different because I wanted someone who did weddings all the time as their specialty. It did cross my mind that I felt funny that my hair person knew I was getting married and I didnt ask her about doing my hair but you could always say that you wanted someone to come to you and you didnt think that they did (even if you know they do, lol).
