FH and I for about 80% of it. My parents paid for most of our E-Party, the deposit on my dress, the deposit for the photographer, and they are paying for the flowers (which is fine by me because my mom is obsessed with flowers - in a good way, so we went a little over board with the flowers!). So far, no help from FILs - FH and I are baffled over it actually (they seem like they dont care that we are streching ourselves financially, and they have plenty of cash - so we know that isn't the issue...it is a bit of a sore topic for us)
eta: the reason why it is a sore topic is because FILs dont seem to care about the wedding, at all.

FH and I are... my mom is paying for the flowers though and she got upset when she found out FH was paying for my dress so she got him to agree to split it with her.

ok, I know this is a little old (not the year and a half part), but I remembered seeing this last week and now i'm totally stressing... so I did a search to find it...
My parents are divorced (and were still together for my sister's wedding).... They are indirectly (=through me) fighting over paying for my wedding. I have almost NO MONEY and FH has a bit of savings that is dropping...
I am so stressed and need some ideas on how to ask who for what....
If I had to budget the wedding and pay myself, it'd be about a $500 wedding... Which means, what? Town Hall??
I have always wanted a WEDDING and when we were planning my sister's 5-6 years ago, I just kept thinking about how much better mine was going to be when the time came (my mom and I always talked about how much easier it would be too -- my sister's kind of difficult in the 'weird, so simple it doesn't really work' way...
I just feel like it's ONE DAY and isn't the marriage the important part? BUT I WANT A WEDDING... Any advice?

my mom and dad are giving us some money(about 3/4th of what the RH is charging) and we are paying for everthing else(oha nd we a re getting a big help for HM too)

If price is a concern, you can try looking for those '1 stop shop' places that offer everything under one roof (wedding gown, favors, invitations, DJ, flowers, tuxes, photo/video). My photo/video company does offer packages starting at $5,000 for all these services bundled up and you can pay deposits in installments. As for venues, you can always do a VFW, Elk's Lodge, or some type of non-traditional space and DYI a lot of the decor...just an idea...

My fh and I didnt have the option of asking anyone bc niether sets of parents have much. We are paying for everything ourselves. Our engagement will be 2 yrs by the time we get married. Why don't you just wait a couple more years and save the money?

I would wait, but I've been waiting so long already (were together about 5 and a half years) and I'm 31 and I want kids (although I'll have to wait a bit on that since they are expensive, too, huh??)
I will probably DYI a lot anyway. All the paper stuff is MINE... And since I don't have much money, the thought of having all that money SPENT (regardless of who spends it) seems silly to me when it could go to other uses.
BUT I really want a nice wedding... Everyone should be Cinderella once, right???
