FH & I are paying for the entire wedding. My parents gave us some money as a gift, but it's not designated for anything specific and they have no say in any of the decisions.

Same thing here. We are getting our gifts early because we need t he help :( But as long as it's coming from somewhere I don't care LOL

my parents are helping to pay for the reception, Greg's parents talk a lot, dont do shat so I assume that the rest we will pay for

I think it may be easier if we were paying for everything. then it would be our say only. my parents generously offered to pay for the reception, they feel that is what should be done but most people do not feel tht way or cannot afford that. theyare not happy.. My FH mom is paying for the flowers, long story behind that but at least now she is offering to help her ownly son. his dad said they would pay for the dj, that was a while back when we recently told the the cost they werent happy they made a stink then agreed then said well its part of your gift. ok...they think we are crazy with this wedding. There thoughts i guess are totally differnt on what a wedding should be. FH and i not even looking to top of the line either... its so fustrating

My parents are paying for the reception and me and my FH have to do the rest. My FH parents are'nt helping at all.

my parents are paying for limos, favors, all misc. like my garter, cake knives, etc...

my aunt is paying for the flowers and calligraphy for invitations

fh parents are paying for rehersal dinner and the extra desserts at the hall

me and fh are doing the rest

FH and I are paying for the entire thing - including my dress. I feel kinda proud of the two of us for pulling this off on our own though - not that we wouldn't appreciate the help but I like it this way for us. I would like to help my kids when they get married though.

My Mom is paying for the gown also, and all the rest that goes with it, as well as all my china. So I guess I'm not doing too bad.....

His parents are paying his half (same as the gift we would have gotten) and my Dad is giving us out wedding gift early.

But We still have all say in whats what.

My fiance and I are paying for everything half and half. We are working so hard trying to save but it's worh it.

Me and my FH are basically paying for everything ourselves. My parents are helping with the misc. things as we go and his parents are giving us a decent amount of money as a gift, but besides that...it's all us!!

I used half my parents wedding money as a down payment on my condo a year ago since I was NEVER getting married
So they are contributing about half if you count the condo cash and my FH and I are splitting the rest. The best part is my FMIL is giving us a huge gift for the wedding- she told my FH how much. So I guess we got off easy

since we're on the subject...

sometimes ray has no balls. i was so upfront and straighforward with my folks but when it come to ask his for anything he wimps out!!!!

they are paying for the hm, but ray says that's it. but, i really feel like the should pay for the rehearsal dinner. ray says that he feels bad asking them...but they just bought a sofa and a chair from ethan allen for 3000!!!!! meanwhile, my parents couch who is falling apart, they refuse to buy one because of the wedding coming up and they may need the money!!!

azoodie2, i feel the same way too sometimes. FH answer.. is I have different relationship with my parents. My parents are differnt people I guess then his but this is their only son, he doesnt ask for anything and lately they been making us feel like we are asking to have the wedding at the plaza. I told him he needs to say something but he won't. Its not the money anymore its the principle.

My FH and I were going to pay for everything..
However...

my parents offered to pay fo rthe hall and my dress...and other things if need be...they are awesome.

FH and I are paying for everything else.
