I'm thinking the table closest to ours on the bride's side needs to be my parent's and sister's table. And then I'll have all my friends' tables right after, closest to the dance floor. Curious to see what others are doing?? I think I've been to lots of weddings where the couple sat next to friends and the family was tucked into the corner but I think my mom will flip out if I suggest that.
I think we will have our parents in the tables on either side of our sweetheart table.
We did a long table for our bridal party, the old fashion way but if I didnt it would probably be my closest family on one side and the grooms closest on the other side.
Immediate family on either side as the head table of each side. My seating arrangement is going to be so effed up that I will probably have literally one table of people at my own wedding. The remaining 12-14 tables will be all FH's family and friends, so they'll spill over on to 'my side' as well.

with the way our room is setup... we have a table on either side of us and thats it... so we are putting friends there... then on the longer side along the dancefloor, we put our families intermingled....
we had my immediate family on one side and his on the other, and then we kinda went from there...
Not sure yet, but most likely my Bridal party and I will have my parents across from us, across the dance floor. But not sure.

Little strange tidbit about the Royalton... there's one table that's close to your table then the one that would be to the left is on the other side of the dance floor so there's a bit of space. It's kinda strange if you need 2 tables to be real close to you.
but then again it's nice because you have have family at that first table to the left and there's a distance between but not too much that it looks like they are shoved in the corner somewhere.
Allegra had her BP girls at the table closest to her. I am doing the same thing. I think I'm going to put my family at the first table to the left and have the friends closer to me. I'll prolly need 2 tables just for the BP then we have a lot of friends. So instead of a bride side vs grooms side... we may end up with a friends side and a family side. But then again my family is super small so they really wouldn't take up a whole table.

Kerri thanks so much! Such a great tip! I totally see what you mean now. I looked at some pictures a past bride sent me and you can see that the table to the right is a lot closer to the sweetheart table than the table to the left. Very helpful! After speaking with FH, we may now be doing friends on one side and family on the other side instead of my original idea to do bride's guests on one side and groom's guests on the other side. Decisions, decisions.
My bridal party and some friends of ours sat at the first table on my side (my MOH and a BM, their significant others, and our other friends who weren't in the BP but were very close to them and me). On DH's side, his groomsmen were mostly family so it turned out to be his siblings and their significant others (so 2 of my BM's were there - SIL's). And then immediate family (parents, etc) were at the next closest tables to us. Most weddings I've been to, the closest tables to the b&g are people in their wedding party.
havent even began the seating arrangements yet! it makes me nervous!
We didn't have a BP table... they all sat with the people they knew (family w/ family, friends w/ friends). The two tables next to us were our parents and immediate families.
Seating has been the worst part of the wedding process for me ... anyway, lol. that said, we decided to have one parents table, everyone together since we are a family now so they will be one side and the BP tables on the other (2 of them), then family following, then friends, then coworkers
Next to us is our Parents on either side of us. Then we are doing close family to the tables next to those and so on. Our friends are not close to us, only because we both have such big families it would be offensive to them to have our friends closer to us then our family.
