Who's THAT GIRL in the office???

I'm really amazed at how quickly I've become the 'everything' girl in the office...There are two new people joining our team and somehow I got duped into teaching them how to use our database - apparently they were told that I took 'really good notes' during the training session that half the department attended in December. Then while I was showing them, one of them said 'oh, I was also told to ask you how to use the online purchase order software' I don't mind doing it, it's just that I resent everyone else saying they have no time to deal with these girls becuase I don't have it in me to tell them 'sorry, can't' like everyone else did

Also, it used to be my job to look after newspaper and magazine subscriptions and stationery orders, but since I've been promoted, we went through all of the administrative duties and split them among the officers. for some reason people still come to me when something goes wrong. I finally had to say on Monday 'this isn't my job anymore'

I've become the one who picks up all the slack of my math counterpart and the assistant principals.

Being the yes-woman *****. I sympathize.

Oh I hear ya sista I am the one that everyone comes to for anything and everything something goes wrong with the computer they call me somethinggoes wrong withthe copier they call me something goes wrong withthe copier they call me. Hello I am an Executive Admin Assistant I am not an IT person. Not only that but my co-worker will be sitting there on a personal call and I will be going crazy answering 2 vice presidnets phones typing up proposals trying to get leases out doing a mailer and getting asked how to fix things.

Oooh, I'm so the copier girl, too!!! I think it's because when it jams - which is about every other minute! - I'm the only one who doesnt' just walk away from it and leave it for the next poor unsuspecting person to deal with!!! Note to office: You have to removed ALL of the jammed paper, yes, every scrap of it, or else it's just gonna jam AGAIN!!!

I am this person too! They don't know how to use a function in Word/Excel, they call me. The copy machine is jammed, they call me. Do we have colored paper - call Vicki!

People - I am not IT nor am I the Repro department! Call them yourselves!!!

I think that we have had this happen to us at some point.
As long as we allow ourselves to be pushover's than things like this will continue to happen. Stand up for yourself even just once and you will see a change for the better.
