Re: Why am I having so much trouble printing my invites??????????
I had the same problem back at the beginning of July and a few LIW brides helped me. Here's the link to my post
DIY Printing on Envelopes
You may have to insert each envelope individually rather than stack them in the paper tray. It's a pain and time consuming, but it works.
Also, JBoothin2008, I don't know how to use that Envelope Wizard thing, but what I did instead was created an MS Word doc using the landscape page setup and manually typed in my envelope size. I saved this doc, copied it so I had the original safe in case anything went wrong. Then I typed out my parents' names and address as a sample envelope, changed font & size to what I wanted, centered the text from the L & R margins, and used the return/enter key to bring the text down to the middle to look like a finished addressed envelope. I hope this makes sense!
I hit Print and followed the directions that lucamon gave me in the post/thread above to make sure it worked. I tested it using the envelope b/c I was getting that smudged print. I had to adjust the printer settings to Heavy Envelope and all smudges were gone.
I have a Mac, so I don't know if it's the same on PCs..... I duplicated the MS Word doc with my parents' envelope, renamed it for the 1st person on my guestlist, typed their names/address over my parents' and saved that document. I created 2 folders called 'Outer Envelopes' and 'Inner Envelopes'. Inside each folder, I titled each doc by last name so it's listed in alpha order for every envelope, which also helped me to count how many invitations I had, how many were done, etc. So instead of having 1 word doc with all the addresses like the Label Wizard, since I don't know how to use the envelope wizard, I have the same # of docs as I do invitations to mail. I was able to preserve the spacing, font, size, justification, etc. Of course I had to make some adjustments to certain envelopes, such as when the address line was too long, or when my friends in Canada had an address that filled 6 lines! It was a pain to type all those names and addresses, and then proofread them again before printing, but I did it while watching TV w/ FH at night, and that made it go quicker.
I did all of this assembly-line style so I got a momentum going:
1- create all the outer envelope docs in MS Word & save to folder
2- create all the inner envelope docs in MS Word & save to folder
3- proofread against guestlist & edit as needed on computer screen
4- print out samples to make sure all OK
5- print all inner envelopes
6- print all outer envelopes
7- stamp, stuff, mail
I'm up to step 6 & need to finish this when FH and I get back to NY.
I did have to keep setting up the printer setting to 'heavy envelope' every single time to print, which was a pain. But it did work.
