Okay, FH's family LOVES to chatter about things behind peoples backs. I have witnessed it when they've done it in fromt of me, about others!
The china I like and that I registered for is regular price $200/place setting and 'on sale' (which it is about 80% of the time) is $130/place setting.
I like it, I spent about 45 minutes in the 'China Room' in Fortunoffs picking it out. I was hesitant to put this one on b/c of it's high price tag. FH's could care less. But I just KNOW his family is going to chatter about 'who does she think she is asking for china that expensive' 'When will she even use it' etc, etc.
FH's brother was married in May 2004, both were clueless about registering and just picked anything. Their china was $45/place setting. I just KNOW they will totally be comapring me to them. That's what they do best!
Do I just get over it, or change the china? There are other patterns I liked, and I agonized over choosing this one b/c of it's price.

You register for what YOU want. Don't not register for it because of what other people might think.

Keep it! a registry is like a wish list and if people want to buy it for you then they will, if not then they will buy you something else.

In my opinion I would leave it...My china was also $195 a place setting and what I did was put another set that was $90 a place setting on my registry also, that way for those people who really want to buy you china, they have both options...I wouldn't worry about what people are going to say about the price, people will always talk, regardless if you put $200 or $20 place settings on your registry...I think of it this way, if people are talking about me then that means I am interesting enough to give them something to talk about ....Follow your gut and do what maks you happy....

IMHO, I would keep it. You love it, you spent a tremendous amount of effort in choosing it, and it is truly lovely. Those who can afford to purchase a place setting will, those who can't wont.
BTW - It was one of my choices, but I had to select something else b/c it almost identical to my sister's pattern.

unfortunately, no matter what....SOMEONE is ALWAYS going to talk behind your back about something.
so live bold and do what you want. it's something you are going to live with for the rest of your life, so make it what you want. you aren't asking them specifically to buy it, so it's none of their concern. let them get you something else, instead.
the only reason i wouldn't register for a very high china is if you want/need a lot of other things. i didn't register for china, but inherited some. and that gave me the opportunity to get a lot of everyday stuff i need. But even with 2 showers, i didn't get ordinary stuff like glasses! Now, I realize because they were more expensive and someone couldn't have gotten them all.
if you were concerned with price, then I would say look for something else. but if you are fine with it, then...as i said, live bold and keep it!

Mine are Cornucopia... (reg215 sale also 80% or more of the time 125) if people done buy it they dont buy it.. although i am in a slightly different situation, FMIL wants me to get the most $$$$ stuff.. the crystal i like is 25/glass she kinda take little jabs on how it is not lismor (65/glass) i dont care, it's what i like... you dont want to have china you dont want just so you dont have to worry about chatter??? Someone is going to chatter NO MATTER WHAT!!!

You know what, it's your china, not theirs. If they don't want to spend that, they can buy something else. People are always going to talk becuase they have nothing better to do. You shouldn't have to change your choice because of them.

I was just ina smimilar situation.. I would keep it. We registered for our cookware set awhile ago- it was 100.00 buck ( little cheap) So I went back to BB&B and saw a newer set that I love for 199.00 So I changed my registry put the new one on and called my FH. He said it was way too much - no one will ever buy us that for our shower. I told him that Its what I want, People can chip in and buy us it as a combined gift...... I refused to take it off. and I know 'Certain ' people will be talking about me... Oh well.. I do alot of cooking I want good pots......Sorry for rattling on!

You should keep the china you registerd for. It is really nice.
BTW I know it is difficult, but you can't waste time or energy worrying if people are going to talk about you. Just do what makes you happy.

here is the thing- and this goes for most people that register for china- not everyone is going to spend $130-$200 on a place setting
if all you want is china from the big gift givers (like close family) then put that on there
also- if you want the whole set, expect to buy the rest of the set with your own money - you probably wont get the entire set at your shower
forget what people are saying- that doesnt matter -but what will they be buying? think about that
because if you NEED other things, and you only get a bunch of china, will you be happy with that - thats what you gotta say to yourself
