Why am I well over my numbers...

Why am I well over my numbers...

So I am not sure if I should be happy or overwhelmed that many people have replied yes to my wedding. FH and I hoped for 150 people to attend, now we are looking at 180 people. Please tell me that I will get some phone call telling me people will not come.

how many did you invite? i only want to invite max 150 and come in closer to 125, but i bet most people will say yes. i know how you feel though - less is more in this case (more money we don't have to spend!)

you will get some no's. i've heard that 15-20% supposedly say no. that held true for my FH's friend this year, so who knows. Hopefully it will be true for you too!

I did the same thing. I had to guarantee 125 and I invited 190. I had a list of a definite 20 that would not come and out of that 20, 5 of them are coming!!! I only got back 4 people who are not coming!!!! We sent out invites like a week and a half ago and 41 people RSVPed yes already. I'm in trouble!

that 15-20% that they say do not come USUALLY COME...you have to plan for every invite to come because you are inviting that many people AND THEN JUST HOPE FOR SOME NO'S....last year my sister invited about 350pp to her wedding and guess what she maybe got like 5 no's....i have about 279 on my list so far and i am hopeing for about 225 would be a nice amount....

i am in the same boat as you - where it is so nice for people to want to join in our celebration - everyone is saying yes and we are well over the number I wanted! lol

I'm terrified of this prospect. We've already paid for 150, and we're tapped out. Unfortunately, my guesstimate was 175, and we invited 225 (oops).

you'll probably have some no shows.

Im the opposite. we invited 233 and were hoping for 170... we are 2 people shy of our 150 minimum..

wanna send a few of your guests over to my wedding instead?? haha

Im inviting 120 hoping 100 will show up. The WP @ the venue says to have an A list & a B list. Send all the A list invites out 1st & see what comes back, then send the B list invites after if u need more seats filled.

I think I will invite less people!!!! :)

I thought I would do that too.....but now we've got to guarantee 165, so i'm nervous that either not enough ppl will show and we'll be paying for more than we have, or that everyone will show up with guests! It's such a balance, and it seems you just cannot predict things! I'm also having a problem with trying to estimate how many hotel rooms to block. i don't want to block too few, but i don't want to be held responsible for paying for unused rooms!

You shouldn't have to. The rooms will go back to general circulation a month before, so if they're not taken you won't be responsible. Of course, this depends on where you block, but I wouldn't block somewhere that made me pay for unused rooms.
