Why on earth do they make dress sizes around 2 sizes smaller than your regular size? Shouldn't they do it the other way around so you are suddenly excited about your size rather than depressed? I had to go get measured for a bridesmaid's dress yesterday and am so not happy. I mean, I know I am not even close to thin, but I usually wear size 14 and they made me order a 20! Sorry, just wanted to complain! Anyone else feel my pain?

I agree - they are very evil and i don't understand it myself. I think it's just a money-making sceme cause they usually tack on another $50 to the 'plus' sized dress. Another way to make a buck.

I feel your pain. I have 3 plus sized girls in my wedding party, it also doesn't help that the Bill Levkoff sizing goes from size 20 and then the next size up is 38! I felt so bad for them!

They are very evil. They charge more for plus sizes.. although if you do go to an online retailer, sometimes the prices are the same for plus sizes.. it makes you think wheather its the manufacturer or the bridal store.

I wear a size 10. I am putting myself on a major body sculpting regimen to shrink myself. I refuse to order a 14. Having once been a 24, I know how it feels to be a plus size. But I didnt get down to a 10 to be a 14. I worked too darn hard!!!

They are evil. I'm a 14 and I took a 20 wedding dress. I almost fit into an 18, but I didn't know if I would lose anything. Figures I lost weight only after the wedding.

Ugh, it really is terrible! What a scam!
Goldi, please don't go crazy trying to lose much more weight...you must be disappearing! I say once the dress comes in you should cut out the size tag and never think about it again! I think that will be my plan.
Thanks for relating everyone!

I know it really *****. That is why I love to shop at Old Navy, I find that their clothes run big. All my items from there are 1-2 sizes smaller than I am. It makes me feel good.

Ugh. I wear a size 10, but because of my chest, I had to order an 18. To add insult to injury, the dress cost 10% more!

Oh no Danielle! Now I am more depressed. I wear Old Navy size 14! So I really am like a 16 or 18! Crap! I get stuff from the Gap and Lord and Taylor in 14 too. Where do you go that you consider having 'real' sizes? (Just so I know to stay away! )
