Why are people so ignorant!!!!

I want to book my DJ since i know who i am going to use and everything and everytime i book something people are like your wedding is over a yr away why are you doing it so early?? Ughhh i know what i want why not book it before i lose it!!!

I know. Some people are really just plain stupid.. Pick another vendor if they're not cooperating with you...

its not the vendor...all them say its good to book early...its friends and some family

You have nothing to lose by booking early. Just try to close your ears to all the unsolicited advice out there! It's your day - book what you want while it's still available!

Just ignore the friends and family. It's your wedding - do what you want, when you want!

I don't think a lot of people get how quickly dates book in the NYC/LI area. In densely populated towns you CAN plan a wedding in 4 months pretty easily, but it would be a huge struggle here.

And it's not just for weddings...parents book halls and DJs fand bands or their kids' Sweet 16s and Bar Mitzvahs YEARS in advance, so we're competing with them for dates too, hehe.

aslong as you are 100% sure with all your vendors and thats who you want because sometimes what happens is you find a better vendor and you regret the fact that you booked someone else and they already have your deposit and they give you a hard time about giving it back. Thats prob. why they are telling you that.

It's so funny that you are saying that, b/c I was just saying the same thing the other day. My wedding is 2 days before yours, and everytime I book something everyone is telling me the same thing as they tell you. Honestly, you cares what they say. I know it's annoying sometimes, but there's nothing that we can do. The only thing that you can do is just enjoy yourself with all the planning!!!!!!

People used to do that to me all the time...

Tell them to kiss your azz!! Who are they?

I'll have you know that my band, when I booked them TWO years in advance, was booking dates all around my date!!

So, LUCKILY I got in when I did...

Try not to let them get to you-- and for me, it really made it easy for me to choose vendors. I basically wrote off any vendor who gave me a negative attitude or told me I was 'too early'... It's like, umm do you want business or not??

everything i did i booked almost 2 yrs to 1 and 1/2 yrs away from the wedding and people would laugh and im like look number one i know what i want and number two i have to actually save this money to pay for it so unless YOU want to pay for it SHUT UP...lol

A word of advice, i'm not saying wait until the last minute but I do suggest wait a little longer for whatever ever reason (and you're entitled) you may have a change a heart with a vendor and believe me you don't want to be stuck with them or having to get the run around from them if you want your money back.....JMO

I hear ya, folks would ask us the same thing. We had all our important vendors book a year in advance (ie hall, church, photographer, DJ). Why you ask, because I wanted a better rate, I knew who I was using after tons of research and I'm happy, so shhh!

There is nothing wrong with booking this early! For one, it helps with the finances closer to the big day! If you have the extra cash now then go for it!

I've learned while planning our wedding, that if you aren't planning a wedding or haven't ever planned one, then you have NO clue how fast things book, how much things cost ....etc!

Don't worry.....try to explain it to them and if that doens't work, then all you can do is smile and walk away!!

I hate that! I have half the people in my life telling me 'Oh my God, you have so much to do and so little time! You need to get moving!'
And then the other half all question why I am booking DJ's, photog's etc so 'early'!

I agree, why not get it done and over with? Its something you wont have to worry about later, trust me I waited until this past september to book my vendors and I kick myself all the time, b/c I have a shorter amount of time to pay them off

You're better off booking early rather than really wanting certain vendor and then finding out they're booked. People don't realize how far in advance all these things get booked. There have been many brides who had to go with their 2nd, 3rd choices because of waiting too long.
