Why are some people so mean????

My poor FI...it's my fault this even came up. So it's getting close to our wedding and we've planned every weekend with something from now on. We have weddings to go to, his bachelor party, my bach party, barmitzfa (I don't know how to spell that), etc. etc., not including actually doing stuff for the wedding. So...my FI gets a call yesterday from a good friend of ours who's child's 2nd birthday is two Sunday's before our wedding. Now the weekend before our wedding I won't be able to do anything because we have the barmitzfa Saturday morning, bach party Saturday night, and Sunday is Father's Day. So I said to my FI, I definitely won't be able to go, and maybe he shouldn't stay all day because there will probably be stuff to do. He's also this boys godfather. So my FI goes and see's his friend today and tells him that I won't be able to come, and that he's only going to be able to stay for a couple hours. And the guy (who is in the wedding party) goes on and on at him, saying he's not a good godfather, blah blah blah. Then says, why can't you just do wedding stuff the night before (THE WEDDING). And he says, well we have the rehearsal dinner (not to mention...how could you wait until the night before to do everything?). And the guy goes...rehearsal dinner? I have to go to that? And my FI says, yeah. And he says, well I don't think I can come. Like trying to get back at him!!!! Sorry to vent, I just don't understand people, in less than two months this will all be over. Can't we be allowed to have fun planning our wedding together???

Wow some people are just crazy. Your FH would have been better just going and leaving early then telling the guy. That is so ridiculous. i mean really this kid is 2 years old and its a bday party, he won't remember anything! If you FH leaves early that does not make him a bad godfather, give me a break

That really stinks! How can the friend not usnderstand that your wedding is just a little bit more important then a 2 year olds b.day? Can't he understand that there is more money and planning involved in a wedding?

Thanks girls! I was feeling guilty like maybe we should both just go. Honestly though, I have no idea what is going to come in the next few weeks, I've never planned a wedding before! Thanks for the support!!!

I agree...it's rather selfish to whine over a 2 year old's party. In hindsight, it might have been best to not have said a word...btw, is this guy married?? how did he not know about the RD and that as a GM he'd have to attend???

Ugh, people are so frustrating sometimes. I'm sorry your FH is going through this.

What I've realized is that there will always be THOSE kinds of people in our lives and the best thing is to not let them get you down. Don't let these petty people get in the way of the happiness and excitement of your engagement and wedding planning! When we booked our wedding on a Saturday afternoon (12pm ceremony), I had SOOO many people complaining that they'd have to take a day off from work. At first, it really upset me and made me second guess my decision but after a while I thought, you know what-if they are more worried about missing ONE day of work than about celebrating our wedding with us, forget them! I wasn't about to pay almost double per head and go broke to book a Sat nite wedding just to please them! Hope everything works out for you!
