OMG.... I have been swamped at work. I represent school districts and when get get in trouble and the school wants to suspend for more than 5 days I do a hearing.
I have 5 hearings scheduled between tomorrow and Wednesday!

Spring Fever has kicked in bad! Once the warm weather hits the kids are done! I work in a middle school so believe me I hear ya!

I can't believe schools would want to suspend kids for that long. I feel like that is not a punishment for them.

my kids have been off the WALL lately and the weather hasn't even been that nice!! It's been much nicer, much earlier. They are cutting, being disrespectful, not doing hw...so frustrating!!
Hope your hearings aren't too painful Mara!

My kids are totally berserk lately. It doesn't help that because I teach special ed in a private school, we go through the summer.

The kids get home instruction for the time that they are out. All these cases are pretty serious... 2 of them brought knifes into school, 1 light a bench in the school on fire and then broke a window and 2 broke into the school and caused damage!
So more than 5 days suspension is definitely warranted!

Although I don't teach in a private school, I understand because I also teach a self-contained special education class and also teach summer school. Here is to hoping that the kids calm down!

ugh i say suspend them all!! A lot of schools don't suspend the kids because they dont want it to go on their record and the kids get away with all this craziness. It's not right and it disrupts so many other kids from learning.

That is outrageous! Well the bench thing at least. I grew up with kids bringing knives to school all the time. Guess city schools desensitized me.

Ugh! I know exactly what you are talking about! It seems to me kids get away with more and more these days because Schools don't the appearance of suspensions on their record. Its so frustrating as a teacher!!!

it sounds like you work with the bad kids more than the good kids. You are only seeing the worst of them. In any five school districts there are bound to be some crazies!

ahhh i used to sub and some of them are just plain crazy. I had a class of 5 kids who were all kicked out of one school and into the school i was in. I was subbing art. Seriously all they had to do was SIT there, talk and hangout. 3 of the kids got kicked out and security had to be called
