When I looked for dresses I went into thinking the dresses were going to be $3000 because that is what they always show in the magazines. I was pleasantly surprised when I went to Lidias, found a dress for under $600.
Don't forget, you wear the dress... Don't let the dress wear you!

Re: Why are wedding dresses sooo expensive?
If your dress has alot of beading that can also bring up the price. The beading is done by hand so it takes time. Honestly, it's just supply and demand. When else can a designer get $3000-$4000 from the non-celebs?

Re: Why are wedding dresses sooo expensive?
My dress has beautiful beading and it only cost 600&. It also has a similair train to yours ( I think, hard to tell from the picture) The designer is Mon Cheri. She has beautiful gown but cheaper prices. You can also try going to Estelles... rte. 110 in farmingdale. I was hesitant to go the them but they had great prices...not so great service...did I mention great prices and they got me the dress sooo fast. They don't do alterations so I will take it someone else.
I think they generally make wedding dresses expensive because they know we'll buy them anyway.

I am getting my beautiful Mori Lee for $800 form Lillette's in baldwin. There are cheaper dresses out there that look just as nice as the expensive ones. You just have to look. I wasn't planning on going so inexpensive, it just worked out that way & I am sure happy it did!

I have to agree. I saw an Amsale for over $6K and it's a very simple A line dress, empire waist and lace skirt. $6K!!!!?!?!?!

because most are hand made, and hand beaded and use alot of fabric, and if you want designer, as always they cost more....
I tend to think it's the name first, and then the fabric. A lot of the expensive gowns I've seen have had little or no beading but they are still $3K & up.
ETA - this could be a result of the designers I am looking at - Amsale, Lazaro, Richard Tyler & Liancarlo

There are less expensive Amsale gowns out there....the lace skirt is probably what makes it so pricey. Have you looked at Marisa gowns? They have a lot of styles similar to Amsale's.
