I went dress shopping today with Toni (Millerford742008) . Yes, we had an awesome, crazy time at the salons. I would like to share with you the reasoning (we were told) why brides are not allowed to take pics of themselves trying on dresses. The bridal consultant stated that the manufacturer of the dress forbids it. And, the owner of the store will abide by that.
I had asked a bridal consultant, 'Where are the Maggie Sotteros dresses'. She stated that they no longer carried the line. I was shocked because it is a popular line. The consultant said that a Maggie Sottero rep came into the store posing as a prospective bride. She had asked the consultant if she could take a photo and the was told it was ok. Maggie Sottero withdrew their account from the store. I was told by the consultant that is the reason for the opening at the top of the curtains in the dressing room. They (owner) can see the flash of light if a picture is taken. Also, the bridal consultant will be fired. But, as she said sometimes brides will come in and not listen, take the photo anyway. Just thought I would share. So, when you goes go to the salons and they have a No PIC don't get upset with bridal consultant. They are just doing their job!!!

Re: WHY BRIDAL SALONS DON'T ALLOW PICTURE TAKING
I wonder why the manufacturers don't allow it? They put their dresses on websites, magazines..etc..but you can't have a pic of you in it?

I was thinking the same thing as well. It might just be some manufacturers. I wanted to take pics to show my grandmother since she doesn't travel that much.

because bridal salons are losing a TON of money bc brides are looking for dresses in the salons then ordering them online.
it mad me mad when I was dress shopping, but i cant blame them - they have to pay to have a store and pay staff to help you.
you can always take a pic with a camera phone in the dressing room when no one is looking

Re: WHY BRIDAL SALONS DON'T ALLOW PICTURE TAKING
that's the stupidest reason i have ever heard! there are pics EVERYWHERE of vendor's dresses...i can't believe they would pull accounts for pic taking.
i think it depends on the shop. i took plenty of pics at my bridal shop, and they didn't say a thing!

They do that because they are loosing money. Look at it like this, you take a picture of their dress take it to someone and get the same dress make they makes nothing but everyone think that you designed the dress yourself or you have on a popular designer dress. So looses in the end?
