Why Canada isn't bad ...

Why Canada isn't bad ...

So a lot of you know that I'm stuck in Toronto for work for what seems like forever (especially when my wedding is next month ) but here's the good part:

1) It's 'Wedding Week' on something called the 'Life Network' which seems like a cross between We, Lifetime, and Style Network. I just got to watch the Best of Martha Stewart Weddings and it's on every night this week. At least I can still get ideas while I'm here.

One idea from tonight -- using placecard holders to hold menus at each person's placesetting. I never thought about this idea before! This is better for me since now I can put my tiffany box favors on the plates like I'd wanted to do originally!

2) They have TWO stations on basic cable that show Sex & the City . I watched 4 back to back episodes last night and it looks like there are another 4 on tonight (on ONE channel!) plus the 2 episodes I watched earlier

This is my attempt to be positive while I'm separated from my 'real' wedding plannig in NY

I am loving the positivity.

Is it the same as these?

KB -- I originally was going to do those but found out that most people don't do assigned seating at the reception beyond just assigning table #s (who knew?!). The idea I saw tonight was using a regular placecard holder (like the pic below) and just sticking the menu in! I even found some cute ones in the shape of gift boxes to go with my Tiffany boxes

I am loving that Jennie!!!! I am only having 80 guests and 10 tables so I would love to have the menu stand with the name in calligraphy. I also want to have a flower in the napkin at each place setting. Oh what is a girl to do???

Will the menu be on the plate or directly in front of the place? Are you making square menus?

The menus would be in front of the plate. I really like the way this one looks with the rounded edges, but FH doesn't seem to be a fan of rounded edges. He just needs some convincing

So, are you doing 'double assigned' seating --table numbers and assigned at the table? I really wanted to do calligraphy on the menus too I was a little worried that if the menus were tucked into the napkins, people wouldn't see their names til they sat down BUT if the menus are standing up... maybe they'll see them better?

I love the rounded edges - very classy. I know double assigned seating is a bit much. If I do the place card holder with the menu in front then I can do a flower tucked in the napkin on the plate. Or is that too much going on? Now you have me looking at menu holders...haha...look how cute this shell one is. Too bad we are both not having beach themes...lol.

Oh and to answer your question - I agree most people will not see the name if it is tucked in the napkin until they sit. They would need to be standing up.

OMG -- those are crazy! You are like the ebay queen with finding stuff Thanks for the Meschantes corset info too -- I contacted them today to find out some more stuff.

I saw the wine goblet ones and they are super cute! I think they might have been perfect if we'd had our wedding at Raphael, but they might be a little too vineyard-y with the detailing on the bottom. Maybe I'll try to find some plain-bottom ones?

I know I love ebay. I have been buying and selling since 1999. Those corsets look painful but really work.

Yeah the goblets are way to vineyard-y and don't go with the look you are going for. I am not really like the hearts either.

That's a great idea!!! And I love that article you posted Kim! So easy to make - but there's no WAY I'm doing another project at this point - FH would KILL me
