The past couple of days it seems as though most of the people I have come in contact with and joked around with have either taken offense or snapped at something I had said jokingly and I mean you could tell I was kidding. For example. I was asking my FMIL about the pearls being bad luck thing. She snaps back with these comments 'First of all being a Catholic you are not supposed to believe any of that crap. I never heard anything about pearls being bad luck. Where do they come up with these things?!??!!' Or last night at work, this lady I handed her change to wanted to trade a $20 bill I just gave her because it looked like it had dried blood on the corner of it. My supervisor jokingly said I have some fake $20's if you want one of those, I was laughing the lady snapped at her and said WHY WOULD I WANT A FAKE ONE!!!!!!! Relax!!!!

i go through this every day! i have a really sarcastic sense of humor....but i teach 7th grade, so most of my jokes go unnoticed......or they take offense..... they are catching on though!!!

I do agree with this for the most part...
But on the other hand...Sarcasm is so wrong to me...(Not that the original poster here was being sarcastic...) But it does cut away at your heart when people are sarcastic.

i can agree with the part that sarcasm sometimes can be taken to a different level and can be very insulting and hurtful .. this is very true

Ditto...
Some sarcasim is mean spirited but not all I am BIG on the sarcasim and i have yet to hear any complaints! (at least none that i know if )
