What made you decide you wanted a band instead of a dj.
Im very undecided however after seeing two bands I really like the feeling of live singers. its kinda like a concert. I think that's why I am leaning towards it. I would like to know your oppinions though. TIA!!

I have been to 2 weddings with bands... one was awful, no one danced at all... 1 was awesome, but we saw them play a few times so we knew how it would be...
The reason I chose a DJ was personal preference of liking to hear the songs the way I know them... not when someone else is singing them!

FH really wants a band, but the cost of a band is so much more than we had planned on for music.
Plus, we're going to need Bengali, Indian, and typical American wedding music so we need someone that can properly mix that stuff and make it 'flow' right throughout the affair. I don't really see a band being able to handle both sides of that equation.

I think its really personal taste and preference. We really love live musicians and how they interact with the guests.

I chose a band because I like the feel of a live band playing. It is all personal preference. If you are going for a band you def have to make sure you pick a good one. You are going to have great bands and great DJ's as well as you can hear crappy bands and crappy DJ's. One doesn't do better then the other. It is all based on the people doing the band or the DJ...
we wanted a band that sounds just like the real music...some bands will make the songs sound 'original'. We didnt want that and Hank Lane recommendd a band that would be good for what we want..
you cant go wrong with either a band or a DJ as long as you get a good one IMO

ITA -- And may I say you have selected a fabulous band Vicky! LOL
A lot of people say they want a DJ b/c they want the music to sound like the original music, but a great band will do that too. It will sound identical. Also with a band, the band leader will be able to read the crowd and judge which to play next, if they should stop and play something different in the middle, etc.

I am definitely going with a live band. I grew up with live music and there is nothing like the intensity of the live band sound. It's like being at a concert. The people that don't dance feel entertained and a good band will keep the dance floor packed. Besides my dad would have a heart attack if I had a DJ at my wedding.

Our parents really wanted us to get a band instead of a dj. And since they're footing the bill, well we had to give them *something* they really wanted.
Also FH and I love live music. But my compromise was that the band had to be an NRC recommended vendor so I didn't have to pay for them to eat. We were so lucky that Code Bleu is a recommended vendor

My parents wanted us to get an Italian American band plus they are paying for it....we got a recommendation went to go hear them play...we really liked their energy...and we booked... but I've always loved bands at weddings...you really do feel like you're at a concert.

I went with a band b/c I wanted the night to be and sound a little different than our typical night out with friends at the bar. You can't go wrong with either, but I think the band adds an element of uniqueness to the night... it's live.

We budgeted for a DJ but after seeing 6 bands we decided we needed to spend the $$$ on the band. Some of the bands that are well known by name - I have to say, we weren't thrilled with. So, make sure you listen to a more than 2.
We ended up using Vision, a Franklin Wayne Band and they were worth every penny. The dance floor was packed all night long and when they went for breaks my guests were calling them back in. They even sang new songs. Everyone ranted and raved about them. If you can afford it, I'd say go for it.

Weonly considered bands for our wedding. FH and I love the feel and energy of live music - we actually spent more time researching and seeing bands than RHs.

I had both a band and a DJ, but the band was a latin band. My family is really into salsa so I figured it would be a good idea. I did have some concerns though, I didnt want the party to be fully latin in music, (which is why I hired the DJ) BUT during the wedding, the DJ barely played b.c he said he didnt want to interrupt the set especially since the floor was packed. I am glad I got the band, it def. added to the party.

FH and I love live music, so we knew we wanted a band. We looked at a bunch too, but booked with Soul Revival immediately after we saw them live at their showcase. Their singers are awesome and they played all the music we want to hear and not the typical cheesy stuff (IMO). The decision to have a band was easy, but finding the best took a while. I am glad that we can check that off our list now

I knew I wanted a band because I love live music.
No offense to anyone, but personally DJs just remind me of sweet 16s and bar/bat mitzvahs. Maybe I just went to too many of them but its just what it reminds me of.
I saw one band and booked them the next day. Its the one decision I have NEVER second guessed in all of my planning.

FH requested that we had a band at our wedding. we both really enjoy live music & i feel that a band is much more interactive with the crowd. however, the band we booked also comes with a dj.
