Why do people cancel at the last minute!!!

So far I have had 4 cancellations in the last 3 days!!! And two of them are friends who called up to say, oh by the way I am not bring a guest anymore!!! UGH!!! Then why did you put 2 people on the RSVP!! 1 of the cancellations is completely understandable, FH grandmother was in the hospital last week, and she can't travel, but the others, come on!!!

I am so sorry. Since having LIW as a resource I have come to realize that I should tell the caterer a number lower than the actual number who RSVPed yes because everyone seems to have this or the no show problem. I think it is so awful. I mean my grandpa died and I went to the funeral in the moring and still made it to the bronx to my friends wedding even though I was sad I wanted to be there for her.

I have that too, FH 2 friends never
RSVP then said they were coming, now yesterday they said,oh we cant make it.

well luckily one of my cousins asked if he could bring a date at the last minute, so that makes up for 1 of the plates, but there still are 3!!! And who knows what will happen between now and Saturday!

good luck girls -- as an aside you could ask that the left over meals get donated to long island harvest or meals on wheels and then use the donation as a tax write off and feel good that the less fortunate benefitted from your wedding too.

I had 5 of DH's family cancel the night before..like I needed that stress. Then a few relatives didn't even call, they just didn't show. They had the flu...(all of them?)

My adicve is definitely give the caterer a number slightly lower than your actual especially if you have several friends brining 'guests' or those traveling to a attend your wedding.

All of my relatives showed for mine but my Godmother and all but one cousin cancelled on my shower. I've completely written two of them off.
