Why do people not understand voicemail?

At home we have voicemail instead of an answering machine, and so many people who call us, who we’ve told several times that we don’t have an answering machine still scream into the phone as if someone will be able to hear.

I just called my house to check the messages and there were 3 of them from my FMIL who was picking my FH up this morning. All 3 messages went as so:

“HELLO! ARE YOU AWAKE YET????? I AM WAITING FOR YOU DOWNSTAIRS! HELLOOO? ARE YOU AWAKE???”

My grandma does the same thing. So amusing…

OMG I cannot stop laughing .. I think its just what 'they do ..'

How about people who don't actually listen to the message?

Ours says ' hi you've reached mike and kristine... please leave a message.'

We get people asking for Alejandro? Speaking another language? Calling to confirm appointments for Mary? Don't you know how to LISTEN??? It happens at work too!

We get those kinds of calls all the time... mostly for someone named Shirley. But also for this person Mohammed, who apparently has racked up quite a lot of debt because he gets calls about it every day! And even when I call these agencies back to tell them they have the wrong number they keep calling! Very frustrating!!!!

When I was in NY, I was apparently the fake number for a girl named Alisha. She gave my number to angry sounding men, who would call at all hours. They never seemed to get that 1) this is NOT Alisha 2) no one named Alisha lives here 3) no matter how much you think she was into you, shes NOT

I wanted to find her to give her props on picking up so many intelligent sounding men.

My grandmother does this with my cell phone. No matter how many times I try to explain it to her, she just doesnt get it. I get messages all the time...Reen sweetie, its grandma, can you hear me hunny, pick up the phone, i dont understand why you dont pick up when you hear grandmas voice...LOL

At least she has an excuse though...shes 93 years young!
