I had a talk to my priest that is marrying us. He said he does not like rose petals toss down in the aisle and outside the church. he said it is more of a legal issue (lawsuits). Any Church brides not allowed to throw petals?

Re: Why do some Churches not allow rose petals?
Me. He said it's because of cleanup.
I also can't use a church runner unless it's approved. He said that some runners slide on the floor and that it can be dangerous. I think he said these are normally the plastic kinds that you can get from the limo companies that do this. (at least with the floor in my church)

Me too. I was told rose petals and rice are liabilities. If someone slips and falls on them...... Im using ribbon wands instead.

My church says that we can't use them cause they stain. I think they just don't want to clean them up afterwards. I'll probably do bubbles.

Re: Why do some Churches not allow rose petals?
my church said no - cleanup and liabilty if some slips on them
i am using ribbon wands - they are stick with a few strands of ribbons coming off that people wave
I am getting married at my Lutheran Church and they don't allow rose petals. I thought it was because if someone steps on them, it might stain the rug down the aisle.
They also don't allow Flash photo...which upsets me because I really don't have time to go back and pose for pics (fake) in the church. We don't have much time between the curch and coctail hour.

I cnat throw them either. We are having a few irish tradiations though..and its custom to ring the church bells as the couple leaves the church...and well do that but i think we will also get little bells to give out to guests as we leave the church so they can ring them...i thought that was a cute idea

He may not want them down the aisle because they can stain the carpet. I was watching the 'Whose wedding is it anyway?' marathon and a girl from Long Island used real rose petals and they stained the carpet. Laura from LAProductions, who was their planner, got stuck cleaning the stains off of the floor for over 1 hour

EXACT same here- our limo company had the lace cloth we used that, if it was plastic they would not have let them put it down!
yes there was a lawsuit years ago for the plastic runners so most if not all churches will not allow them. Cloth they will-

My church doesnt allow a runner as of now, but we spoke to director there and she said they may change that rule! GOOD!
and we are doing rose petals- i am not sure if they will be real or fake yet, but the fake are pretty too
