Why do the rules only apply to SOME people!!!!! VENT

OK I had to hand in a 20 page take home exam today by NOON.

Ok 1st - we were supposed to get the exam by NO LATER than May 1st so that we would have a minimum of 20 days to take the exam.

Second it was SUPPOSED to originally be due on May 20th by noon.

Well our prof couldn't get her act together and she only got us the exam on May 5th at like 8 pm.

Well - SHE CHANGED THE DATE IT WAS DUE to May 16th. So our 20 days quickly became 10 - whem you have 6 finals that is a BIG deal.

Ok here is the part that bother me.

When you get a take home exam and YOU FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS AND YOU DO IT AND HAND IT IN ON TIME. Right?

Well I busted my @ss to get it done by wednesday so that I will have time to work on my 50 page summary judgment and study for my other finals. Well we have something called TWEN on westlaw - where students can email the prof questions and she can post the questions and her answers.

Well starting wednesday night (after I finished the exam) a student asked about her format in answering the questions - so she tells them she wants it this particular way - CHANGING what was in the instructions of the exam.

Then yesterday morning she decides that she had too many confusions for one of the questions - SO SHE CHANGED IT! - So I had to rewrite it!

THEN last night at midnight we get an email - that tells us it is ok if we want to go into more detail and extend the maximum lenght (originally no more than 3 pages per short answer essay and 10 pages for the long essay) well students told her that they went into so much detail that it took them 7 pages a question and about 15 for the essay - and so she wanted all of us to be aware she changed the rule since WE WILL BE GRADED AGAINST ONE ANOTHER SO IF SOME PEOPLE ARE MORE DETAILED THAN THE NEXT IT WILL HURT OTHERS-So I was up until 7 am REWRITING MY F@#(*^ Final.

So here is the kicker I get to school - and guess what- SHE GAVE HALF THE CLASS AN EXTENTION ON THEIR FINAL EXAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ***! Sorry I am just sick of the special consideration certain people get and others don't - this girl at school was given an extention on her finals for the flu - but their made my friend pull her IV out IN the EMERGENCY ROOM for bacterial pneumonia and come in and take her final - needless to say she didn't do well and she got a number of people sick - BUT I am so sick of this - what do these people think - that when they graduate they can simple tell the judge - hmmm I don't feel like showing up for something - I know that there are extinuating circumstances - but hello you are an adult -

That's not right!!! You did the assignment the way it was given, and on time without asking for special treatment! If I were you I would complain to someone who can do something for you...actually, I would have complained before I rewrote the final (because its against my religion to do double work )

One of MANY reasons - I will put you in touch with at least 10 people all at different schools - from hofstra - to columbia, NYU, temple all who will tell you the same thing!..LOL

Sunny - yes I guess I agree - except that our papers are compared and curved together so someone with an extension will have a paper that is more comprehensive than someone with less time (well at least in theory) so why should I be penalized by handing my paper in on time by someone who will have extra time to spend on it and may therefore have a more polished final result.

Eroxgrl - I finish on tues. But I am taking 1 night class and doing my pro bono work AND I'M DONE. So Tuesdays and thursdays are out. Many places are closed on Mondays - remember - but after the 25 (graduation) I am booked on the 31st to try on dresses at Saks and Kleinfeld's - otherwise I'm pretty much free to take a day

See, this is why I keep a copy of everything a professor gives me in writing and on the internet, so that you can hold it against them when they change the rules. I've had this happen and fought with the school and when they saw it in print, the professor had no choice but to accept the original paper assignment. I can see where it's a problem though since you are being graded against eachother. Stupid teachers!

HA I wish NO we have a NO GRADE APPEAL rule at our school. They will ONLY change a grade for NUMERICAL caculations (like adding 2 +6 and getting 5 in stead of 8) A teacher can even stand there and say I AM WRONG and I MARKED it WRONG but there is NOTHING that can be done. This was apparently installed b/c they felt that any good law student should be able to argue their way to an A.

And to think that I was considering going back to shcool for law . I have heard so many negative things that I am glad I didn't do it.
