Why does FH...

Why does FH...

feel the need to invite everyone he has ever known, met, spoke to, looked at, was acquainted with, said God Bless you to, drove past, worked with, laughed at, cried with, met on vacation, went to school with, to our wedding? ( I think I covered them all)

I am sending out the STD's, and he cant seem to whittle down his list to a reasonable amount of people. He is frustrating me....lol

My FH is just the opposite. We sent out the STDs and he totaly under counted, didn't know who 1/2 the family members were on the list from FSIL. He could care less who is invited so long as I am there

Oh my God him too. I am like who is Greg? He says 'oh I gotta find out his last name.' Then I ask, what is John's wife's name? I have no idea... (such close friends they are I guess!!) And my favorite is that he is insisting on inviting all these random friends' parents too..

OMG! I am having the same prob. He wants fraternity brothers we have not seen in years. Also, my family is much larger and he keeps saying your list is longer. Well, I am one of 30 grandkids on one side an I am close to them all. What worked to get some of his 'Brothers' of the list is letting him see how much each person really is and how much you can save if you go with the people who should really be at your day. Hopes it helps!

mine was the same way...i call him 'the mayor' b/c everywhere we go he finds someone he knows! so our list was INSANE for what I wanted, and it took a LOT of persuading to get him to pull off the guys he played little league with but hasnt seen or called in 4 years.....my rule of thumb if you havnt had significant contact with them in the last 2 years their not invited!

I couldnt agree more.
-If you havent spoken to them in 2 yrs - off the list
-if you dont know their last name, or their husband/wife/significant other's name - off the list
-if you talk to them strictly via forwarded emails - off the list

what else.....

Ha! My FH is really good....I think he's been pretty reasonable. We made sure his dad looked over the guest list to make sure he didn't forget anyone lol. Silly boys.

We had the same problem and this is what I did-went over the list and told him if in 6 years I never met them or even heard their name mentioned they were not invited....so we went down the list and I crossed off those people

HAHAHA

I made this clear from day one that we ARE NOT inviting random people. We are going to have 250 with close friends and family and I do not need to expand that number on people who I've never met and FH doesn't even know their last name.

My husband did the same thing until he finally realized what the per head cost is, and then multiplied that number by the total amount of guests.
I also asked him a question : If we don't socialize with these 'friends' why should we invite them to the wedding ?
We would have probably had over 400 guests had he invited everyone.
We wound up with 208 invited and 152 attending.

He sounds like my FH. I finally had to say...if I haven't met them, or at least heard of them in the last 4 years, they aren't invited...sorry!

Yeah I have had more fights about this than anything. His mom is the same freakin way. And the thing that ***** is his family is pretty big, so we have about 100 people just with them, half his family he doesnt even talk to but he says they will be offended if we dont invite them.

Yup, so far this has caused the most tension.. and the fact that he is doing the same thing with asking his groomsmen.. 'well i was in his wedding in 1996'.. ... 'He is such a good friend (hasnt spoken to him in months)....

Re: Why does FH...

I had this issue with my dad. The wedding was in November and he is still finding people that he wished he had invited... and we had 200+!!!!!!!

My advice on STDs is be VERY conservative. Everyone who gets one HAS to be invited to the wedding. It will be hard to cut back later if you send out a lot now. We ended up not sending them out at all. If I were you, I would only send them to your closest friends and family members.

You can always add more people to the guest list later on, but you can't take them off if they've already gotten the STD.
