false. they allow names of many vendors that are not 'LIW vendors'. i think they block certain names of vendors who request it or who they dealt with legal issues with.

It's a legal thing - they're usually vendors who have had complaints or problems with customers. It has nothing to do with whether or not they advertise on the site - there are plenty of vendors who are not LIW vendors whose names show up.

I'm not sure exactly where the legality issue is - I think it may have something to do with blocking it out so that people can't complain on the site about them and then have the vendors see it, get upset, and sue the site for slander. That's just my guess though.

I think that is pretty much the reason...things have gone on and LIW had to do certain things to protect themselves

Hmmm, I wouldn't say it's vendors who received a lot of complaints - for example Mia from B ridal L ounge (if you don't put the spaces, it gets *****) but there are tons of great reviews for her.

I thought it was either vendors who broke some type of LIW rule (like advertising for themselves on the forums) or if there was a legal issue where their name should not be shown.

It depends on the vendor. Some have asked that their names be removed from the site. Others have 'stolen' copyrighted info from this site and used it for their own personal gain resulting in legal problems with LIW, and still others have broken LIW rules which may or may not have been serious enough to start legal action, but was nevertheless serious enough to get them banned from the site (like pretending to be a bride, I can actually think of one vendor that registered as a bride for TWOTY '06 and tried to solicit brides as clients). Some have shown up on programs like Shame On You, and LIW has made the decision to protect brides from predatory vendors.
