Ok, so weddings in the U.S. are different than back home. fine. My 82 year old grandmother flew in from the Philippines and is going to wear a gorgeous beaded gown...problem is...its cream. The exact same shade as my ivory wedding gown. Ok, she's my grandmother, and I love her, so I don't mind. She didn't even know that you don't wear white to a wedding. But when I told my mother to make sure no one else wears white or ivory, she says she can't tell people what to wear.
Dear Mom. You're my mother. F*cking advocate for me. Yes you can...you can nicely say 'you know, Pauline is the bride, she should be the only one wearing that color.' Thank you.

I told my mom that I think it would be weird for people to wear white to MY WEDDING, but in all honesty, who cares? so long as it's not an actual wedding dress, I don't think it much matters (except that other people will notice and think she's dumb... whoever 'she' may be... I don't think it would actually bother me day of...)
But that's my wedding. if YOU don't want white on others, I think you're right, your mom should be able to help you out with that.....

Sadly, not everyone knows this! My future step mother never heard it was wrong to wear white to a wedding and she's been to ton! You should ask your mom to politely tell people if they mention possibly wearing white but unfort no way to police it! If someone does where white, you probably won't't notice anyways.

Re: why don't people just understand??!!!???
I don't even mind my grandmother wearing ivory, its the fact that my MOTHER won't stick up for me and tell people not to wear white. Because 1. She'd rather have my feelings hurt than be 'rude' to the guests. 2. even SHE doesn't think there's anything wrong with wearing white.
I just can't win.
My younger sister is going to have it SSSOOO much easier when she gets married.

If I knew any of my guests were going to wear white/ivory/champagne, I would do that same thing.
