Why don't people stick to the registry??

Why don't people stick to the registry??

I mean, in my case, it's not such a big deal (so far anyway).

I'm registered at Macy's. I figured they are everywhere, you can buy online, and I have stuff on there from $4.99 to my $300 mixer, so you can spend whatever you want!

One of my mom's friends said she bought my gift a long time ago on her own. She told my mom what it was and it just so happens it's on my reg anyway! I don't know what it is, but I'm very curious!

And then another one of my mom's friends said the same thing.... oh don't worry I got her something on my own.... but my mom did say it was from Tiffany's so I won't complain about that either!!

I just think it's funny..... when I get invited to a shower or event I would rather get something that they want....

Sorry, I don't mean to sound like I'm complaining, I'm not, I've just heard funny stories from other people.

I understand your frustration. My one BM who can be extremely annoying about stuff like this already told me that she's not going to get me something from the registry, but rather something that she feels is necessary to have when setting up a home.

This same BM asked me this fall what she should get for her other friend's shower, a beer pitcher or a platter. I asked if they were on the registry, and she said no. I said why not get her something she actually wants or needs? 'I don't like to do that.' 'Sigh...ok. Then get her the platter, it's more useful at least for holidays and stuff.' 'Ok, I think I'll get her the beer pitcher.'

No worries mama!! You don't sound like you're complaining!! My mom's really close friend got us a GOURD SCULPTURE. Yes you heard it, a gourd sculpture. It was so funny, I said to my dad and mom, 'It looks pretty expensive, you know?' and they both just rolled their eyes and said how cheap she was! I had no idea haha! What else, Ali this is similar to yours, my one bm refused to shop online for my shower off my registries. She lives in Brooklyn and was like 'I'm gonna buy you an item you had on your registry from somewhere in Brooklyn'. So she got me a butter dish that looked similar to the one on my registry. And then I got the one on my registry. But everyone really does mean well, so none of these things really got me down at all you know? I know you're not complaining!

Honestly I got ALOT of gifts for my shower that were not on my registries. I was upset because these people clearly spent good money on them but I didnt want it because i didnt need it and they didnt give me gift receipts with it.

One person got us a basket of **** like bandaids, toothpaste, rubbing alcohol (seriously).. I dont need any of it and their money was wasted on a lame gift (i know im mean).. I wish ppl just stuck to the registry.

I also got a basket of vegetables...

these are the same ppl that told my mom they didnt get me anything off my registry because they figured we had everything we needed. Those same people then got me toiletries that someone who has everything they needed SHOULD have.

ugh I spent weeks working on my registry and I got ALOT of gifts I cant return.

stinks but its the thought that counts
