Why don't these kids come with instructions???

Why don't these kids come with instructions???

Just when things are flowing so nice and smooth and you think you have the hang of this Mommy thing - BAM!! You hit your head against the wall and I'm back to feeling like a total idiot...

I think Ryan is over his tummy bug, but it appears that now he is rejecting his baby food. All well and good I guess, except that thanks to the damn allergies I'm having a hard time finding anything to feed him except veggies and fruit and cheerios. On top of that, it seems like his appetite is way down, he's not thrilled about his bottles or formula and I feel stupid. I'm not sure he's eating enough - he's not very clear about his hunger or about being full...and would you believe those damn fingers in the jar that Gerber calls meat have MILK in them???? What am I going to feed this kid!!?!!

On top of that WHY WON'T MY AVATAR CHANGE??? And if Ryan doesn't stop whining everytime I put him down in the playpen for a few minutes I swear I'm going to LOSE IT!!!!

O.k. - That's my vent...I'm sure there was a question in there somewhere. I'm just glad we're going for a well care visit on Friday so the dr. can either make me feel more insecure or possibly better....

ETA: And what is the deal with the ISOMIL??? Is there some kind of run on soy formula I was unaware of?? 2 stores today - 2 and not one case of the RTF...what a day...

I do not know enough to help you with the food allergy. Can you ask for a referral to a nutritionist? Have you looked online for sample menus for kids with an allergy like his? Wish I could help more.

Lee I feel your pain with the food allergy thing...I have had to cut milk products out of my DH's diet, and you'd be surprised the things that have milk products in them! Chips, chewy granola bars, virtually anything with artifical flavoring...it's nearly impossible to avoid!

What about giving him some plain pasta cut up? You can put some margarine on it or a small amount of sauce (can he have tomatoes?)

Try some fresh turkey breast cut into small pieces or some chicken cutlet cut really small. Do you have a food mill?

Try a baked sweet potato, but don't cook it until it's mushy - leave it a little firm and cut it into chunks that he can pick up himself.

Hang in there...you are a great Mommy and you're doing fine!!!! We ALL have these days!

to you lee!! What a stresser .. trying to find foods w/o milk. I know I saw a 20/20 or dateline or something recently that did a segment on this. Have you tried searching the internet for any support groups? I will post a question on my bf group board to see if there's anyone who may know of one or have suggestions. Hang in there ... you're a wonderful mommy!!! And YOU'LL be the resident expert soon on this subj!

Lee, I have a container of Isomil Advance. Let me know if you want it.

As for Ryan and his ups and downs...
