To steal a line from my FH and only half joking, I still rue the day I chose to give out save the dates as my e-party favors! To be more specific, it was giving them to my then-new coworkers! At the time, I thought the more the merrier for my e-party and didn't want to leave anyone out of that invite list because I just started that job. BUT now a lot of the people (mostly guys) I invited then, now work in another department and I don't see and am not friendly with anymore! BUT - they gave an e-present, so I gave a thank you card with a save-the-date magnet.
Now I feel just as weird SENDING a wedding invitation to some of them as NOT sending one after they already have a save the date!
My friend thinks that if they're typical guys, they probably wouldn't notice if they didn't get an invite, but a lot of them are still friends with other guys in my office and are all part of the big group.
I don't think I'd mind, but my guest list is up to 200, where as it really should be 150.

Re: Why don't they make 'Forget the Date' cards?
I don't know if this is the right answer, but I probably wouldn't invite them if I wasn't speaking with them anymore. I also think your friend is right and they won't notice. Not sure if this is the right answer though. This is why I am hesitant to do Save The Dates.

I decided the same thing. I didn't send out Save the Dates to co-workers but most knew about the wedding. There were a few people from work that I decided not to invite for many reasons.
The bottom line is...as a good friend told me...If they are going to bother you, upset you or make you unhappy by being there...don't invite them!
That is what I thought before I sent out the invites.

you're right. If I had ONE piece of advice, it would be to only send save the dates to family members and CLOSE friends. I feel SO weird sending invitations to people I only pass in the hall... I really don't know anything about them! But I got engaged 2 months after working there so I thought I was going to be really close with all these people! oops!
So, if they didn't attend the e-party, gave me an e-present, I gave them a thank you card over a year ago saying we hope they're able to make it to the wedding with an STD magnet included... but now I never see them... do I invite them?? ugh...
I feel like I still have to and let THEM decide whether or not they want to come. At the same time, I don't want it to seem like I'm fishing for presents.
There ARE some people who I've also discovered i TRULY can't STAND since I started who are 100% off the list with NO QUALMS about not inviting them. They're miserable, hateful people and they're out. THEM I have no problem not inviting... it's just the nice, I don't see you anymore people I feel bad about.
Damn those Save the Dates!!!

That 's why I have so many save the dates left - b/c I was hesitant to send them to anyone I didn't know if I wanted to invite later on!
