Why get Make-Up done?? Does it really make a BIG difference???
I am going back and forth with the idea on whether to get my make-up done by a professional. I'm one to simply wear eyeliner, mascara, and maybe lip gloss. I am wondering if getting a make-up professional would really do a better job and be able to really work with my eyelashes.... I always have probs making the right side stand up nicely. Is it worth the money to get one???

Re: Why get Make-Up done?? Does it really make a BIG difference???
personally i think so and here is why. Remember that make up photograph differently than it looks in person. I know MANY times ive done my own make up and it looked great in person and then i see pics and doesnt look as great, and remember the flash on a photographers camera is stronger. Sometimes you can look more pale in pics compared to what you really look like in person. Sometimes make up can look great in person but in pics you see dark circles and doesnt have a sheer smooth look.
Also, since i dont wear alot of make up in my regular life lol, it also can come off alot faster. It will look one way when i first do it but if im out in the sun and out all day doing alot then after a few hours it can look different.
As a professional make up artist and especially one that deals with weddings. They know which make up to use that will photograph beautifully, also making sure you dont get that darker face and then lighter neck look. And if you want a more natural look then you can ask for that and they will do it, you dont have to do a dramatic look.
If you want to test it out, do your make up the way you do it, and take pics. Believe it or not there have been many brides on here that ive seen who went in asking a make up artist for natural make up and to use very little, and in pics it looks like you dont really have make up on so in the end they asked for more.

definitely worth the money in my opinion!! the way most women do their makeup day to day may not photograph as well. it doesn't show up as much or you can appear washed out with the sun outside or with the flash. you probably want to bump it up a notch for your wedding even if you want to go fairly natural looking, its still nice to have someone do your eyes so they really 'pop.'
btw, i have the same problem with my lashes on one eye! do you use an eye lash curler? it helps.

I definitely do think its very important to have your make-up done. Professional pics are different from regular pics so blemishes may show if not covered properly and you want to get the best out of your pics. You dont want to regret anything on your wedding day.
That being said, I definitely dont think its necessary to spend 300 bucks on makeup or even anywhere near that. There are plenty of salons that will do make-up for a fraction of the price or even Make-up counters at dept stores.

I do use an eyelash curler, but some eyelashes on that side just DON'T want to work with me AT ALL!!! LOL!!! I hope the make-up artist can do something about it hahaha I was even wondering if I should get some fake ones put on for the day :)

most will put fake ones on you. They do individual lashes now so its alot better. You dont have to get the strip of lashes

yes absolutely. i dont wear a ton of makeup, and i can either get my makeup to look good in person or in pictures but not both.
i loved the way my makeup artist made me and my mom, bridesmaids, etc look
if you have a good makeup artist it is well worth it

It makes a HUGE difference. I personally look like a schlub in my everyday life. LOL. Don't get me wrong, I do ok on my own with my concealer and my foundation, but if I were to be put under the bright lights of a professional photographer I would prolly look like hell. A professional makeup artist knows these things and will make you look amazing.

Definitely! I wear very little makeup in real life because I can't be bothered lol. Makeup artists know how to accentuate your best features and cover or downplay the rest. They know how to make you gorgeous on your wedding day in pro photos. They also know how to apply it so that it lasts all day. The last thing you want to worry about on your sepcial day is multiple touchups or worse, reapplying. Why don't you do a search on here and check out girls' before and after makeup trial pics? It really makes such a huge difference to have pro makeup done.

ABSOLUTELY. it makes a huge HUGE difference..not only in person, but especially in photographs. If you get a good artist, they will still be able to give you a natural look so don't worry about looking or feeling overdone. Also, about the eyelashes - again, a professional arist will work out whatever they need to. imo, it's one of the most special days of ur life...u should feel the most unique, pampered & beautiful that u've ever felt

It does make a big difference (even if you want a natural look for the day of). It smoothes out the skin and in pictures your face will look flawless. You will notice the difference in pro pics. HTH

Yes -- I can actually do a pretty good job with my own makeup when I take my time. But I don't want that extra stress on my wedding day (what if I mess up my eyeliner?). Plus a makeup artist can cover the pimple that suddenly arrives the morning of your wedding, and I can't manage to do it as perfectly myself.
If you still don't want to pay someone to do your makeup, do you have a friend who is pretty skilled? Perhaps she can help you out. I would do a trial run with her now though to make sure she is on the same page as you -- and then after you get your makeup done, spend a few hours running errands, seriously maybe even hit the gym for an hour (cause you will get sweaty in your dress and dancing) and then take some pics of yourself. If the makeup still looks good, then great!

I will not be having my makeup done professionally. I went to the Bobbi Brown counter with my sister. Had them do my makeup, bought the makeup that they used and will have my sister and me do my makeup the day of the wedding. I refused to pay that much money for someone to do my makeup and not have any of the makeup to touch up with throughout the day. Dont feel pressured to have your makeup done just because everyone on LIW is having it done.

personally I think its worth it. I do not wear eyeliner hardly ever and am not great at putting it on. But it makes a big difference in the photos. I felt like i would be too nervous the day of to be able to do my own makeup. I also think it is important to make sure it is done right and that you have enough on so it looks good in photos. I figured I was paying so much for these photos that I may as well look good in them. Plus it was my wedding day and I figured it was worth the splurge!

I figure i am spending so much money already on my wedding, paying a little extra for professional makeup won't make a difference. I want to ensure that i will look great on my big day and especially how it will be photographed in pictures!

my make up artist actually gave me stuff for FREE to retouch my make up. Thing is that I never had to retouch my make up, throughout the whole day it stayed on perfectly fine, even right before reception started i said im gonna go retouch my make up, looked in the mirror and said OH WOW i dont even need to. The lipgloss that she gave me i did use throughout the day.
And nobody is pressuring her, we gave honest opinions which i think she asked for. I said she can test it out herself and take pics of when she does her own make up to see this.

My every day make up routine includes: cover up as needed, moisturizer, liner and mascara. I am a minimalist, but it was essential for me to have my MU professionally done for my day.
It was the one day I was going to be photographed over and over again and I wanted to look my absolute best.
It was the best $150 I have ever spent. I have never felt so beautiful as I did on that day and the MU was a huge part of it.

Re: Why get Make-Up done?? Does it really make a BIG difference???
i'm definitely getting mine done (by the bestest girl ever) because makeup wears off if not done properly. When my sister got married, i just had a friend do my make-up and even though it wasn't professional, it still looked great (even in pictures). However, by the time we made it to the reception a few hours later, it was GONE, and i had brought no back-up. I was appalled when i saw myself in those pictures and on video. I looked gross (like sickly pale from the camera flashes and all that). My sister's also came off, which stinks more for her as the bride. So i'm not taking ANY chances! I want mine to last the ENTIRE night because i am definitely not running to the bathroom to 'touch up' during my reception. What a waste of time.
