Why is it...? (FI vent)

Why is it...? (FI vent)

that when my FI uses the last ice cube in the ice cube tray, he places the tray on the counter instead of filling it up? Does he think water, or better yet ice cubes, will magically appear in the tray if it sits on the counter? He usually does this when I'm in the middle of cooking or right after I cleaned the kitchen. Maybe I will just let the tray sit there and when he complains that we have no more ice cubes, I will explain that the ice cube fairy is on strike!

I think it is a man thing. My brother, father and FH do that too. It makes me NUTS!! Why can't they take the 20 seconds to fil it back up and put it in the freezer??

Al does the EXACT same thing. I don't understand it.

He also leaves opened cans and bottles on the counter rather than putting them in the recycling bin. WHY?!

Re: Why is it...? (FI vent)

Another one here with a DH that does that!! I'll go in the freezer to get ice, and the tray usually has only a couple of cubes. I always tell him to put the cubes in the box but he never does Sometimes he even puts the empty tray back in teh freezer. That's why we have 3 trays.

My DH leaves the empty water container on the counter. Not sure why? I wonder if I left it there long enough if it would magically fill itself

My hubby put the entire 2 trays back in to the freezer empty Said he was waiting to re-fill it...I never get it, finish it, replenish it Men they are such slow learners

The reason why men do that is becasue they are stupid, and or their mom always put it away for them and their fathers.

Re: Why is it...? (FI vent)

Solutions to the problem - get an automatic ice maker in the fridge. We moved in with my parents and they don't have ice trays so problem solved!

sometimes, when I read vents like this one I feel like a man.... yes, I confess - I put the (nearly) empty ice cube tray back in the freezer...

I'm a bad, bad woman...

Re: Why is it...? (FI vent)

Actually he puts them in the sink. So if there are dirty dishes in there as well, I have to clean it before I can fill it and put in back. I thought I was the only one living with this. I am glad I am not alone.

Re: Why is it...? (FI vent)

I asked my FI why was the empty ice cube tray on the counter. He looked puzzled, picked it up, looked at it, looked in the fridge, then said, 'Oh, I thought we ran out of water. I guess not' then proceeded to fill it up. What would have happened if there was no water in the water pitcher?! Well, I'll tell you what would have happened - it would have sat on the counter keeping the empty ice cube tray company!

Oh, my FI also likes to store empty soda cans and wine bottles on the counter. I don't know the reasoning behind that!

Another woman here guilty of the ice cube tray syndrome. I do put them back, just w/ one or empty. I am making the effort to stop though.

Scary. DH does that too. He actually puts the empty tray back in the freezer - as if it will re-fill itself.
