~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Ok, my latest dilemma~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ **************************************** **************************************** Im having a hard time with cake.Yes thats right, that sweet little desert has been causing me a bit of stress. Our original cake was quoted at over $1000!!!! Im not spending that much on a cake... its a cake! Its just not That important to me! However I do want a cool cake, So here is my latest idea. A bakery makes these really cool cupcakes in our wedding colors and the icing is spikey and looks awesome (dont have a photo yet). We could do a Cup Cake Tower a few layers high then a matching 1 Layer cake on top. Not big, just big enough to cut.
I have been to a few weddings with cup cake towers and they work really well. I also find that people actually eat them more then cake! And its also Much Cheaper.... by at least $300!!!! So im stuck. it would be cool... people would eat them and love it and would be cheap... but would i prefer tradition? What would you do?
i think the cupcakes are a great idea..!! I'm with you.. i don't want to spend 1,000 on a cake cause there are things id much rather splurge on!! The cupcakes are def. cheaper and different.. i think it'll come out really nice! Or if you want to go traditional you could always make just one layer of cake real to cut..then the rest Styrofoam or whatever they use. It's cheaper..then you just have them make a sheet cake to cut and serve. No one will even know!!

Its not a bad idea at all!! I've never seen one (i havent been to many weddings though) but i just wanted to tell you that you can get a cake that only has the 1st layer as actual cake, and then just decorated on top to look like a cake and they will have layer cake in the back for the guests... just thought i would through another option in there! but i voted for the cupcakes anyway!!!

Im totally sold on the cupcakes. and Yeah, I want the top layer to be a small fun cake to match.
Im trying to convince the fh now lol. but we sampled the cupcakes last night, So GOOOD!!!!!
Im going to go in and get pictures of them and post them for you guys to see. they are Really Colourful!

I am a cupcake girl...I could eat them for breakfast, lunch, dinner and every snack in between! Of course, I'd be 200 pounds and would need a whole new wardrobe lol However, my family thinks I'm nuts when I mention a cupcake tower. They are into a traditional wedding cake..no if, ands or buts about it! So, cake it is for me.....I'll save cupcakes for other parties in the future.

I origionally really liked a cake that was a cake in the center, small three layers then 2 cupcake towers. One on each side
That may work to keep the tradition but add the funk. lol

I LOVE the cupcake towers...but if you decide to go with traditional cake, then go back to the same place and ask if you get the same cake but instead of making each layer with real cake inside, can you make it just one layer with real cake, the one you will cut into and then the rest will be a models, they use styrofoam or other things with no cake inside and they serve your guests sheetcake that will already be cut up. So its good bc for one im guessing your cake is fondant for it to be that much, and some ppl dont like it so this way they can have cake without the fondant on it, it saves time bc they can cut it ahead of time and it saves money...ALot of places do this
