why must people be so dumb?

ok so...my FMIL is planning my entire shower...its a surprise to me...all i know is i'm getting one...and she's planning and paying for it.

she sent out invites for this shower and apparently from what FH tells me...it specifically says on the invite 'this is a surprise...at no point contact melody about this...' or something to that effect.

well I get a myspace message saying 'hey you sent an invite to my mom at her address but the name on the invite says aunt mercedes...is it for my mom or mercedes?' to which i reply 'oh that wasn't me, thats my FMIL, the shower is a surprise and i know nothing about it...I'll let my mom know about the mistake' so she messages me back 'well that doesn't answer my question ...but ok'

***!!! what part of 'its a surprise that i know nothing about' don't people get???

FH was PISSED when he heard she messaged me to ask that...we got into an arguement because he was like 'you know...you've got some DUMB people in your family. is it so hard to follow instructions???' and of course i got defensive. he's trying so hard to keep things under wraps lol

i know, it really was dumb...and then to write back AFTER i clarified it was a surprise I can't defend her any longer!

I'm just worried his family will look down on my family...because his family has helped us so much monetarily and physically with this planning process and if someone from my family ruins the shower after they foot the bill and worked so hard for it...omg...it'll be the straw that breaks the camels back.
