wierd or not?

So I live with FH and I just have this huge urge to not be home and stay at my mothers for the whole week of the wedding. I told FH that I am doing it. I dont know why but I guess I want to feel like Im not married for a week lol.

Is that wierd??

not weird I know a lot of people do that.

though I feel the opposite and we don't live together but i want to stay together the night before the wedding.... not sure how to deal with that since my parents want me to stay at their house even though I haven't lived there for 7 years.

Re: wierd or not?

See, I would have felt completely displaced the week of my wedding if I wasn't in my apt. (we lived together too). The week of your wedding you're going to be running around like a crazy person....if I was at my mom's house during that time, it would have made me even crazier because I would have needed tons of things (numbers, papers, things on MY computer, just my own shower and bed..just being in my own place..) that make me comfortable. I needed just that stability since the rest of my life was like a tornado that week.

Leaving my apt wasn't even a thought for me. Besides, DH calms me....on top of being a crazy person that week, the sheer stress alone made me an emotional basketcase, no joke I cried every single day, just from stress (and excitement). I needed DH that week to physically be there for me. I would have lost it if not for him.

We lived together, and we stayed together like an other night the night before the wedding. I wouldn't have had it any other way. It was so great to fall asleep together the night before our wedding and to wake up together on our biggest day ever. We woke up so happy.

I would still see him and go to my apartment for things that I needed, I am just not going to sleep there...or pick up his dirty underwear and do dishes LOLOL

No not at all. I'm staying at my mom's the night before even though the church is right around the corner form our house. I want to feel like a little girl once more. I like your idea though of the whole week, but I'd miss my little 'kids' (our animals) too much.

I think you should do whatever you want. Im staying at my mothers the night before for sure just because I feel like I shouldnt be with him the night before the wedding so its more exciting.

I guess everyone feels differently

that's what i thought! I told him that I would feel so much better if we woke up together the morning of - so he booked the hotel for the night before (since we will be out there and staying at the hotel the night of our wedding, it didn't make sense to stay in queens if i have to be in LI at the crack of dawn). I'm so happy about it and it's totally anti-traditional in my family so I'm trying to figure out how to tell them. I cannot tell my parents we are staying together they are way too old school.

I swear we woke up like giddy school kids, it was actually funny....and I'm happy we got to share that moment on that day.

Just don't tell them. Tell them you're staying there alone. What they don't know won't hurt them.

Not at all. I plan to stay at my parent's house the night before. Actually years ago it was the one request my mom had...that the night before the wedding I stayed home and spent some time with her. I don't think I could do the whole week there but I know I will be spending quite a bit of time there that week. I am really looking forward to that night with my mom and sis (MOH). I think it can be a very special time for you and your parents.

that's probably what I'll do, though the whole 'i want to sleep in my own bed' would be a better story. fh doesn't get it - he rolls his eyes. but i swear my mom still thinks i will be snow white walking down the aisle

Re: wierd or not?

I think it'd be cute if you stayed at your parents house the week before. I don't live with my FH, but I do understand the whole wanting to build up some excitement by not seeing him each day the week before the wedding. Your parents will probably like the idea too and be excited.

Definitely not weird at all. I'm staying at my parents house the night before the wedding definitely, and maybe the night before that too. I'm not sure what my plans are any earlier than that. I do know that I will probably be spending a lot of time the week before the wedding at my parent's house, my mom is helping me bigtime with all the planning, and we'll probably be taking care of a million last minute things together.

Re: wierd or not?

I stayed at the hotel the night before and DH stayed at his parents'. We said goodbye at the RD, and I shared my king size bed with my sis and one of my BMs, it was fun to wake up with them on such an important day.

Now ask me if I could have done a week with my mother beforehand? Hellz no! but that is just me!
