No real catholic priest will. In order for you to recieve the sacrament of marraige it has to be in the church.

I don't think so, they don't view it as a real Catholic marriage if it's not in the Church, I think.

A pastor or a deacon will do it, I think. My grandfather does it.

Like everyone says it will not be recognized by the church. If for some reason you cannot be married by the church, but would still like a Catholic Priest to marry you check out Father Tom McCormick or Reverand Michael Callahan, both once were Ordained Catholic Priest, Vendors on LIW and wonderful wonderful officiants.
(Father Tom is marrying us in October and next year we will be married in the church so it is recognized.)

A catholic priest like Father Tom or Reverend Mike can marry you at the hall and it will be recognized by God. Unfortunately tho, it won't be recognized by the Catholic church.
Oh well, not too long ago they didn't recognize Galileo's discoveries either!! Took a few hundred years before the Pope would apologize for that one.

Re: Will a Catholic priest. . .
I had a bus driver in school whos daughter wanted to be married at her hall, but she too had the problem with the priest. So she had a small ceremony the night before the wedding in the church, then the next morning she had her big wedding ceremony where she wanted it. If your wedding is later in the day, you could have a small marriage in the church in the morning, and then have it at your hall later that day. So you can call it your wedding day.

Re: Will a Catholic priest. . .
I believe if either you or your FH is not Catholic (or hasn't gotten either your baptism, communion or confirmation) you can petition for a special dispensation and your priest (depending on how strict your church is) may marry you outside of the church.
If both you and FH are full blown Catholics (like me and FH), then a priest will only marry you outside of the church if you have a ceremony inside the church first (and the outside the church ceremony would be like a renewal). The whole getting married in the church is a canon of the church (a lesser canon, but a canon nonetheless).
I have also heard rumors that the priests at St. Johns will do ceremonies outside the church, but I am still looking into that.
Other alternatives are to go with a reformed priest or a 'retired' priest - but these weddings will not be recognized by the church.
(I'm trying to find an officiant right now)
PS - If you find a priest who will do it at your site, let me know! My great aunt is a nun and she said that because it is a lesser canon, some priests may consider doing it - but it is case to case!

This is the correct information. Monsignor Lisante of St. Thomas the Apostle in West Hempstead is officiating at our Catholic ceremony at our reception site. It did not have to be an interfaith ceremony for him to do this, however, we are having an interfaith ceremony.

You and your DH are both Catholic and he performed the ceremony for you outside of a church without a problem?? I'm shocked because I also asked a Monsignor who has been a family friend since before I was born and he still refused to do it.

I think so as long as it is in a sacred place - I know they do not marry you out side. I asked my priest and he said no.

Re: Will a Catholic priest. . .
hi girls, thank you for your all information. I have the same situation too. I want to get marry in the church ( both of us are catholic)but we don't have enough time since we have our reception at 12 PM ( 12-5)and my church can only have ceremony between 2-4 PM. So, I decided to have ceremony on sat w/ my family and another ceremony in my hall where I am going to have all of my bridal party.
