I was wondering if any of you are facing this situation. If so, how do you plan on dealing with it or how are you currently dealing with it?

Re: Will FMIL live alone after you marry FH?
We have a unique situ...we're actually moving my grandpa in so I can take care of him (right now, grandma's in the nursing home, late stage alzheimers) & I am grandpa's primary caretaker (he still is in his home (83 yrs old)...we're going to sell). I am THE ONLY relative he has in NY....so, we're making a handicapped apt. for him w/us. After he passes (as horrible as this) we've already accepted the fact that my FMIL will probably move into that room. By the grace of god, they are both wonderful people. But, regardless it's not easy. Everybody's situ is diff, I'm sure.....Best of Luck!

wow! Your situation is really tough! I just feel really bad that my FMIL is not looking forward to living alone after the wedding. She once 'joked' around that she should move in with us. As much as I love her, I would not be able to live with her. I could also tell that it's hard for FH to deal with. *Sighs*

That's totally FH's situation! He feels very bad about leaving FMIL! I feel bad because I feel that I'm taking him away from her.

For now, I would stand your ground & enjoy your new life w/your FH..... As time goes on, & age sets in w/the elderly (like my situ)....you may be more accepting/willing w/o feeling any resentment (my worst fear). AND they may be MORE grateful & LESS intrusive that they are not going to a nuring home/assisted living. As for me, I know I am on 'borrowed time' w/my grandpa...so, I take care of him wholeheartedly. Yes, is it trialsome! Especially when he's let say, not having a 'good day'., which is more often than not. In a weird way, it's like I'm getting practice for my FMIL (even though she has 3 other daughter's in NY, we've already accepted she will eventually be with us) it just a matter of time...One of my favorite motto's.....'One Day at a Time' right?
